I really want to try the spaces alpha, but want to migrate the account to my own local server, but can't do that until we move because my server can't fit in our apartment which means waiting another 2 months.

With the above being said, I dont recommend my preference for now. The option of login with passkey, plus the option to have no password is the better option for a broader public.

Shaun Guimond @shaunguimond.com · 06/10/2026
Absolutely yay! I expect some disagreement, but... My preference is that passkeys be the main form of authentication with passwords removed entirely. Multiple passkeys should be supported, a warning to add a backup if a device bound passkey is added. Synced passkeys have less risk of being lost.

I would assume this is because the individual doing this cares more for the outcome, than the journey. They are not doing fantasy football to play a game, they are doing it to win money. The consequence of gambling being rampant across sports and now everything else...

If you want to know who survives AI, look at what happened to Hollywood in the 1970s.

Movie Studios used to enforce tight “shooting ratios”; usually 5:1, maybe 10:1 TOPS. As in, for every 5 feet of film shot, at least 1 foot had to end up in the final cut (35mm was expensive!)

Holy cow "government’s huge subsidization of this project – up to 90 per cent of a $40-billion pipeline with ownership split evenly between Ottawa and Edmonton – ....." What kind of a deal is that? esp cuz we're subsidizing the past world of energy markets www.theglobeandmail.com/business/com...

Opinion: Is it really a good idea for the government to subsidize a pipeline?
Designating the West Coast pipeline as a project of national interest exposes a global reality: Fossil fuels haven’t just lost to clean energy – they’ve already lost

Could we please stop framing climate action as a left/right issue. It’s just a big issue that all politicians need to grapple with. Both a massive cost/risk & huge economic opportunity with clean energy transition (with big risk of stranded fossil fuel assets).

...not counting the saving on maintenance. Additionally, this trip had us going pretty rural and paying some higher rates. Our efficiency was pretty bad as well based on what I tabulated, likely because we drove on faster routes in cool temperatures, yet we still saved a considerable sum. tabev.org

Calculated as close as possible our trip from Vancouver to Vancouver. Over 7220 km ( I put the lowest amount I could confirm since I forgot to set the odometer before...) and we saved ~350 CAD compared to gas in BC. That means we have saved about ~8000 dollars over the last 3 years of ownership...
The Charging Summary which outlines the total liters saved (577.60), emissions saved (1297.80 kg CO^2), total cost (780.66 CAD) and more. Photo of the Network breakdown for the Yukon trip.

Carney tells us that among the criteria for a project being designated in the national interest, the major projects office considers whether the project “contributes to Canadas clean growth and climate goals.” And a BITUMEN PIPELINE PASSED THIS TEST? Then the test is bullshit.

I've also been thinking about extending this to have records stored in a user's pds, then those charging sessions - with ratings? - could be accessible from the firehose? Essentially creating an open PlugShare.

Finally updated a small project I did for tabulating charging sessions. Originally, I was using external provider's for login (Google and Github). The last few days, I was able to get Atmosphere accounts to be an accepted login method. Would be curious if anyone can try it at tabev.org

A truly heinous man has doxxed the Cornell victim on X and the comments are predictably vile. Based on countless interviews I’ve done with survivors, the trauma they are subjected to for coming forward is oftentimes even worse than the initial trauma they experienced.
