Line graph time series of 2025's daily Arctic sea ice extent compared to decadal averages from the 1980s to the 2010s. The decadal averages are shown with different colored lines with purple for the 1980s, blue for the 1990s, green for the 2000s, and white for the 2010s. Thin white lines are also shown for each year from 2000 to 2024. 2025 is shown with a thick gold line, which is currently a record low for the current date. There is a long-term decreasing trend in ice extent for every day of the year shown on this graph between October and January by looking at the decadal average line positions.

The reality, of course, is that Miller and a significant portion of Trump’s base are the ones who failed to assimilate to America’s post-WWII culture of multi-racial democracy & religious pluralism…and they are now using their power to destroy that once dominant (and still popular) American culture.

Associations between gut microbiota and personality traits: insights from a captive common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) colony | Microbiology Spectrum
This study provides valuable insights into the intricate relationship between gut microbiota and host personality traits, using captive common marmosets as a model. By controlling for diet and housing conditions, it probes key host factors such as personality, age, sex, and social group membership, offering a robust framework for understanding microbiome-host interactions. The discovery of specific microbial taxa associated with personality traits, particularly the enrichment of sulfite-reducing genera in more avoidant individuals, underscores the potential of the gut microbiome to reflect or be associated with personality differences. These findings advance our understanding of microbiome-host dynamics and pave the way for future research on the mechanistic links between behavior and gut microbiota in other animal models and across broader ecological contexts.

BREAKING: A federal court blocked Trump’s military ban on transgender service members, ruling it unconstitutional. The court found no evidence supporting claims of reduced readiness, citing the honor & excellence of trans troops. ecf.dcd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/show...
A screenshot of a legal document from the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The case is Nicolas Talbott, et al., Plaintiffs, v. United States, et al., Defendants, with Civil Action No. 25-cv-00240 (ACR). The document is titled "MEMORANDUM OPINION" and discusses Executive Order No. 14183 issued by President Donald J. Trump, which focuses on "Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness." The text states that the military’s mission is to protect the American people and that service by transgender individuals is considered "inconsistent" with this mission. It references the implementation of the order by Secretary of Defense Peter B. Hegseth on February 26, 2025, and mentions the disqualification of transgender troops from service without exemption. Footnotes clarify that the executive order does not explicitly use the word "transgender" but applies to individuals whose gender identity diverges from their biological sex. The document is formatted in a standard court opinion style, with citations and references to legal filings.
