This is a multimedia piece I've been wanting to do for months, character is painted in acrylics on a digital photo manipulation printed background. Also, it's been a while since my monthly experiments had a more playful tone!
Multimedia painting on vertical canvas
Theme: Fantasy / Dark fantasy / Experimental
Character: My OC Lubi, he/him, transmasc
#Artsky #QueerArt #TransArt #DarkFantasy #SwordAndSorcery

This is a mixture of digital and traditional process. First I edited a photo background and added a digital line sketch, which I got printed on imitation canvas, and then finished by painting the character with acrylics. The piece is pretty big - 104 x 139 cm.

The background is a photo of an old wine basement, appearing like a cave with brick walls. I edited it to get a blue and green-yellow palette.

The character is sitting on the floor in the center of the cave, grinning. The nose, mouth and eyes are the only other part of this piece that was done digitally, as I was unsure if I could paint the sharp edges of the design.
He's wearing a hooded cape, which gives the impression of an invisible coat, as its colours reflect the colour of the background in a blurry way. He's wearing a black shirt which extends into a loin cloth with a green, zig-zag edge. The shape of the hood covering his face is a heart. His face is partially shadowed, while red fiery hair is sticking out on the leftside.

He's wearing gauntlets, which are shaded in much more delicate detail than the rest of the character. The metallic shading also extends to the wavy-bladed sword. His boots are red and black, with a somewhat checkered pattern.

Behind him is a wall which is transparent in the middle, having a dreamlike impression. On the wall of the cave which took on the greenish-yellow tint in the photomanipulation process, I painted a torch with a green flame. On the upper left part of the painting is a yellow moon crescent.

Lastly on the top right edge of the painting are a couple of crystals, catching the colours of their surroundings, which makes them almost invisible until you notice them. I really love how these turned out.

We don't deserve dogs. We deserve to gaze once more upon the silver towers and gilded streets and jewel-dewed courtyards of lost Lim-Atmarr, taken from us by freezing waters! O, Lim-Atmarr, prosperous and accursed, locked away for epochs beneath the jealous ice... dogs pale in comparison to thee....

in the same way MAGA's fixation on children and child predators is pure projection to their own creepy desires to control children, Blue MAGA's fixation on "white social justice cosplayers" is a projection of how they only seem to care about social justice movements when a Democrat isn't in power.

AE Stallings on Argos:
A.E. Stallings

Argos, Odysseus's Dog

(See The Odyssey 17.290-327)
Another hunting dog poem, i.m. Timothy Murphy

Argos, with your mange-scabbed coat, Shipwreck of ribs, washed up among The midden's refuse, the mules' dung, Do you still track the wild goat

Through dreams of oregano and thyme?
You lift your head and prick your ears.
Voice that marooned you twenty years Ago, sails back, still in its prime

To ask the swincherd why you sleep Outside the walls, seething with fleas;
He speaks of breeding, pedigrees.
The ordure shifts, piled soft and deep.

Remember black ships rigged for Troy?
Quayside, just weaned, you whimpered. Stay, He anchored you. And you obey:
You stay still. No-one croons "Good boy."

fried rice, while delicious in theory, has never existed and cannot be made by human beings. it requires rice to be pre-made and refrigerated in advance and we as humans lack the capacity to plan that far ahead. in the future, computers may be able to help us do this

Auden’s Musée des Beaux Artes
WH Auden’s Musée des Beaux Artes

About suffering they were never wrong,
The Old Masters: how well they understood
Its human position; how it takes place
While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking dully along
How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting For the miraculous birth, there always must be Children who did not specially want it to happen, skating On a pond at the edge of the wood:
They never forgot
That even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot
Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturer's horse
Scratches its innocent behind on a tree.
In Brueghel's Icarus, for instance: how everything turns away Quite leisurely from the disaster; the ploughman may Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry,
But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone As it had to on the white legs disappearing into the green Water; and the expensive delicate ship that must have seen Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky, Had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on.

As I’ve said a million times, I’m not particularly against smart uses of AI This is the stupidest use I’ve seen yet though
recent Axios story on maternal health policy referenced
"findings" that a majority of people trusted their doctors and nurses. On the surface, there's nothing unusual about that. What wasn't originally mentioned, however, was that these findings were made up.
Clicking through the links revealed (as did a subsequent editor's note and clarification by Axios) that the public opinion poll was a computer simulation run by the artificial intelligence start-up Aaru. No people were involved in the creation of these opinions.
The practice Aaru used is called silicon sampling, and it's suddenly everywhere. The idea behind silicon sampling is simple and tantalizing. Because large language models can generate responses that emulate human answers, polling companies see an opportunity to use A.I. agents to simulate survey responses at a small fraction of the cost and time required for traditional polling.

This is the funniest reason for a character in a romance game to be non-romanceable
While Girlfailure Art Club features four main heroines, it seems that only three of them – Shoko, Kana, and Rinne – are romanceable. The fourth girl and president of the art club, Yurie, is a diehard Yumejoshi (self-shipper), who pairs herself with the fictional character Tobari Kyoya from the in-game manga Home Problem Hitman Deborn (which are parodies of the character Hibari Kyoya and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! manga series by real author Akira Amano, respectively). Given that you are nowhere near as charismatic as Tobari, Yurie will not respond to your romantic advances.

this is in fact the design of the thing: it's all about being able to make choices for which the subject is not ultimately responsible (and also to the same point: why it both reproduces and induces business owner-style brainrot) www.forbes.com/sites/leslie...
Consulting AI for trip planning, medical advice or help writing a cover letter doesn’t just save time. It could be fundamentally reshaping how our brains process decisions, according to researchers studying how reliance on artificial intelligence reshapes human reasoning.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard it said that AI affects critical thinking skills. But while most research has been observational, cognitive behavioral scientists at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business wanted to add to the empirical evidence. So they conducted experiments with almost 1,300 subjects and found that in 80% of the cases when participants chose to consult ChatGPT, they went with wrong answers without stopping to scrutinize them.
