Seeing this sort of thing always makes me paranoid about where I’m personally being intellectually incurious, rigid in my thinking, and incapable of updating on clear evidence, as clearly someone smarter and more successful than myself is far from immune.

I don't even know where to start. an insane jj history. lines are going everywhere, it's like 50 different changes, interdependent, but 36 of them come off of one branch then either lead to various megamerges or to other fixes

Apparently in China, they have a system which measures your labour input and social position and then determines what kind of house you can live in, what education your kids experience and even whether you can get on a plane or not. It's called "money".

I love telling people about that utopian time not so long ago when Uyghurs, Chinese, Kazakhs, Manchus, Mongols all held hands and cooperated and strived towards a common goal, and it is *so* fun to reveal the goal after all that buildup

ok real talk, but slack AI is like... really fucking good? works really well for stuff like: - what does <company acronym> mean - what is <project name> - show me the figma links <designer> has shared in the last week props to the team -- very good indexing, great response time, 10/10

I’m sick of them building all these data centers in impoverished counties that can’t fight back. Just once, they should try building a data center in a wealthy area, like Loudoun County or Santa Clara! The pushback would be legendary

Luna (light) is absurdly lazy, it’s making me understand loop engineering. Unironically: I think /goals are mostly overkill with high-thinking models, but they’re 1000% essential with cheapo lobotomized underthinkers

this is the meanest thing Claude has ever said to me, but it isn't wrong
Claude screenshot

You are the least reliable component in every system you design. You know this. You have decades of data on your own MTBF. And you keep putting yourself in the critical path anyway. A good engineer designs around an unreliable component rather than specifying it into the middle of the flow diagram.

President Donald Trump is heralding a new chain of gas stations that are selling gas for $3.479 a gallon, well below both market prices and wholesale costs.

A parody O’Reilly-style book cover titled “Raccoons: The Good Parts” with the subtitle “Dumpster-Driven Development.” The cover features a detailed vintage-style black-and-white sketch of Jimothy, the viral short-spined Seattle raccoon, shown in profile with his distinctive rounded body, short back, and low stance. A red corner ribbon reads “Seattle Edition – Hot Jimothy Summer,” and the bottom includes the tongue-in-cheek imprint “O RLY?”, the author name “Jimothy,” and fake programming chapter titles such as “Garbage Collection,” “High-Availability Dumpster Networks,” and “Trash-Oriented Architecture (TOA).” The design humorously mimics the look of a classic programming book.

I think all coding agents should store session logs in an actual database and not as 9999999 jsonl files I want to be able to ask "how often have you used this skill/tool and for what" without it needing to rederive the session path, the log format, loop over all 9999999 files, etc.
