Afaik it’s also considered to be sheer insanity by both the category theorists and the music theorists so… perfect for claude I guess?

The Topos of Music
This four-volume set is the second edition of the now classic book "The Topos of Music". In Vol. I the author explains the theory's conceptual framework of denotators and forms, the classification of ...

advice for junior developers: you are no longer a developer you are a builder you are a solution provider enter every room and make things happen learn when no one is watching create because you can fix problems because they offend you bend the world to your will and take credit

IMO it’s a smaller-scale version of how CEOs get apparently overpaid. Part of it is that slight differences in quality do get magnified by scale, so it’s not too bad to pay a 10% better engineer 2x as much; partly its keeping up appearances

Saxxie.dev @saxxie.dev · 01/10/2026
Unless you think zuck is overpaying out of the goodness of his heart

Well objectively the guy fixing a layout bug for facebook is paid more than the guy singlehandedly developing critical in-house systems for a small business

“What an employee is worth” isn’t really a property of the employee as much as it is a property of the company and product; it’s not a super useful abstraction IMO

Saxxie.dev @saxxie.dev · 01/10/2026
The employee who fixes a trivial one-line bug in facebook is worth orders of magnitude more than the person maintaining a complex system for 50 people.

Didn’t know they had a manifesto where they proudly announced the crime and their motivations for it, that’s crazy

Saxxie.dev @saxxie.dev · 01/10/2026
Yeah but we still have (at least to an extent) humans advising them on how they should structure and maintain their long-term memories, and doing so is generally not something agents are RLed for AFAIK
010
Saxxie.dev @saxxie.dev · 01/10/2026
Tbh we *should* be seeing a renaissance of module types/signatures to deal with this
010
Saxxie.dev @saxxie.dev · 01/10/2026
An embiggened version of this is gonna be how we get persistent agents huh?

This sounds like you’re worried about picking exactly which “specific people” should be dead, but you don’t have to do that if you pick a high bar with a big margin for error: e.g. “only mass-murderers with 5+ victims and a manifesto” - seems pretty unlikely anyone innocent gets tangled up there

Problem is that the same person who is worth 100k at company A can simultaneously be worth 500k at company B, because company B has 5x as many users so the same employee doing the same work is 5x as productive there.

Seeing this sort of thing always makes me paranoid about where I’m personally being intellectually incurious, rigid in my thinking, and incapable of updating on clear evidence, as clearly someone smarter and more successful than myself is far from immune.

But yeah this is why I aaid dubious, not false. Alternatively you could just always agree with everyone on all sides of an argument (hell yeah this is a great discussion) and then it would also be satisfied

What’s preventing a non-ai-hater fron screenshotting 2 ai-haters agreeingg one another. In fact that’s pretty common - one of the bender screenshots today falls in that category iirc

isn’t this one of the few parts of LLMs where interpretability researchers have a pretty solid understanding of what exactly is going on inside the black box

MBAs hit all the core liberal arts (rhetoric grammar logic) pretty hard, both business and law probably have the most extensive rhetoric training out of any degree

Calling it eugenics feels like an overly broad definition, since “pure-blooded superhuman ruling-class” is a pretty common cultural belief in even stone-age societies and and eugenics as a pseudoscience is from the late 1800s or something

I feel like it should count, since obviously the addition or removal of any one member (while n>3, at least) doesn’t unmake the polycule. OTOH I’m not really sure if polycules track their own history well enough beyond the departure of their seniormost member to know how old they are?

Nah, descriptively people can be boys/girls into at least their late-30s or sometimes even later (as in “boys/girls night) - and the bar gets older every year. That’s why we have to specify “underaged” when the boys/girls happen to be children. This is what nietzsche warned about in “the last man”

It is, of course, equally plausible for mathematical models, including LLMs, to be like an unbalanced bowling ball as it is for people’s personalities to be like an unbalanced bowling ball.

She’s saying that talking about “bias” is anthropomorphization, but its actually the other way around. In English the term originally was first introduced for physical objects that are biased. The idea of people being biased is a metaphor: it says a person is like an unbalanced bowling ball.
