DC's housing shortage is driving our affordability crisis — and we need to act like it. We cannot address the crisis while banning rowhomes and apartments across much of DC and codifying exclusion. There are too many missed opportunities here for a plan meant to get us to 2050.

Don’t be fooled. Removing protected bike lanes along 15th St. near the National Mall doesn’t alleviate congestion – it will cause more of it as accidents increase. It’s yet another effort by the federal government to politicize common-sense safety measures in the District.

The Trump administration is removing a popular DC bike lane
Feds say the 15th Street protected bike lane will cause more traffic during cherry blossom season, but bike advocates say it makes everyone safer.

Kenyan McDuffie delivered us all higher Pepco bills. A new @markrodeffer.bsky.social piece in @51st.news explains the details. "Kenyan McDuffie could have scrutinized utility rate hikes and defended struggling ratepayers. Instead, he sided with utilities. Now D.C. families are paying the price."

The future of DC calls for safe streets, fast and frequent public transit, and far more housing than we currently have. Making DC affordable for working families requires us to unlock barriers to housing and a transportation system that works for all of us. Let's work together to get it done! ✅

I hate this so much for a ton of reasons but especially because of *course* physical & life sciences are political. Maybe moreso, because they can be very expensive. Why do you study this instead of that? Who decides what’s fundable? It’s a resource allocation, and that’s political.
