@rtraister.bsky.social’s reporting in @nymag.com makes it clear Jackson didn’t “emerge from nowhere.” His long history in state politics and the relationships she describes are why he was able to become the candidate. The fact that DC & NY editors had never heard of him doesn’t mean Mainers hadn’t.

I talked to my colleague Ben Hart about Mills dropping out. I've been away on book leave so I had a lot to get off my chest, enough that stuff got cut (Mills' data bad center veto; her also bad sealed criminal records veto; the impact of the Amy Coney Barrett confirmation on 2020) But nevertheless..
