Drawing of a white dog with scars who speaks with a kamoji flourish. He says he is the Hound Knight, and likes to help busy people find their way.The Hound Knight walks with adventurers, saying he is good at dungeons. The Hound Knight holds a stick in his mouth, and turns to see a knight resting both hands on the hilt of their sword. The Hound Knight says his companions have many swords, spells and worries. The Hound Knight is being pet by an adventuring party, as he narrates that if he can get his companions to put down their weapons to giving him pets, then he did his job.

Being a sentient person in 2026 means arguing in public for issues you never thought you would have to articulate out loud: "Read to your children yourself instead of outsourcing it to a robot!" "Don't televise executions!" Things like that.

And so forth. But if you start treating "what the donors say they want" as marching orders or letting it limit your imagination, your institution already has no future.

This comes up in SO many contexts (Church/Jesuit stuff too), that "oh we can't do X because donors will be upset!" a) it's usually a bluff b) what new donors might you *attract* with a change? c) how much is your soul actually worth? seriously: what dollar amount would let you tolerate immorality?

Split photo of bright blue azurite and peach-colored smithsonite crystals.

The azurite forms clusters of round nodules with a matte, almost velvety-looking texture.

The smithsonite crystals are mostly discs with parallelogram faces. There are some black and gold-colores minerals mixed in.
