Uh, did Julie Kang straight up lie to @ericacbarnett.bsky.social here? The photo shoot was at the end of June 2026, well after Kang had declared her candidacy and just a few weeks before ballots went out with her name on them.

Another family or community group picture could have been here but Julie Kang's actions prevented that. Not what we should want or expect from a candidate for public office. Vote for @niluj.bsky.social! bsky.app/profile/robe...

The photo shoot was June 30 in the middle of an intense primary she was actively running in. She knew it would go up when the station opened around the general election. It was deceptive and disrespectful of Sound Transit to insert herself like this in a silly attempt to help her campaign.

I'm glad to hear Sound Transit quickly took down the large photo of Julie Kang. I'm extremely disappointed to see that Kang is still being evasive about her responsibility for deceiving the public and wasting time and resources.

I think the primary results were such a blowout for Nilu Jenks that the race isn't getting much coverage. But just because Kang is going to lose doesn't mean she should avoid accountability for this bad behavior.

The daughter in the happy-family-photo here, Katherine Kang, is currently the campaign manager for Julie Kang. So @sound-transit.bsky.social has just been deceived into plastering up a photo of a political candidate AND their campaign manager using our public dollars, just before the D5 election.

After graduation, I flew home to Seattle and stepped into one of the most meaningful opportunities of my life. After nearly a decade of canvassing, phone banking, and volunteering on political campaigns, I'm now serving as Campaign Manager for Julie for Seattle. Every day, I have the privilege of knocking on doors across District 5, creating campaign content, coordinating our incredible volunteer team, and connecting with neighbors who care deeply about their community. It has been surreal to see our yard signs across the district and to read The Seattle Times endorsement. With ballots arriving next week and the primary just around the corner, I'm excited to keep applying everything I've learned over the past three years while continuing to grow through this experience. https:// Inkd.in/gSh_XTrU

Either way, the picture needs to be covered up and ST needs to explain how this happened. If Sound Transit had put a big picture of Katie Wilson smiling at the Capitol Hill light rail station Seattle media would have had a (justified!) freak out. We should expect the same in this case.

Sound Transit should have vetted the people they featured in these photos to make sure they weren't *currently running for public office*. It was unethical of Kang to sign up for this and deceive Sound Transit into showing support for her campaign.

@sound-transit.bsky.social, could someone explain why you put a big photo of District 5 City Council Candidate Julie Kang at the newly opened Pinehurst Station? This is an outrageous use of public resources. This photo needs to be taken down, or at least covered up, until after the election.

Random thought I had reading about yet another meeting where our councilmembers ranted about raiding essential services to fund MOAR COPS: If Mayor Wilson has to veto the budget they pass, will @niluj.bsky.social get to vote on the revisions once we elect her to the D5 seat?

We are building a Seattle where stability is not the ceiling of our ambition, but the ground beneath it. I am transmitting a budget to City Council with ambitious funding for shelter and community to create safety, stability, and affordability. Oh, and — no structural deficit through 2030.

Just to pull back the curtain a bit: Sara Nelson, who lost her Council seat by a 2-1 margin last year, is desperate to get back into the game and to stop progressives. But the big money isn't convinced it will work and won't fund her. So she's cobbled together $150K to try and stop Nilu Jenks in D5.

Thanks for asking, KUOW! Yes, we are winning for renters: from banning pet rent and other rental junk fees, to adding density throughout our City, to SEPA reform, to my Executive Order streamlined permitting, our renter majority city is seeing real improvements to affordability…
Screenshot of a KUOW article titled, “Seattle Mayor Wilson still rents. Can she help her fellow renters?” with a photo of Mayor Wilson. Screenshots from the articles that say,
“Zohran Mamdani lives in Gracie Mansion. Karen Bass lives in the Getty House. The mayors of Portland, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Chicago all own their own homes.

But Katie Wilson, mayor of Seattle, still rents in the same century-old brick apartment building as before the election last year.

Property records say it's 700 square feet, but the original listing said 650, according to Wilson.

This year, Wilson has banned "junk fees" like pet rent and required landlords to be upfront about other fees, signed legislation or issued executive orders to cut through red tape or overcome procedural roadblocks to building housing, and moved toward upzoning, parts of the city to allow taller, denser buildings.”
