Well, that sucks. Whatever you think of the assorted trash flicks¹ Marjoe Gortner appeared in, you can't deny that he always gave each role everything he had, be it FOOD OF THE GODS or STARCRASH. He never phoned it in & will be sorely missed, dangit. _______ 1. Meant in the best sense of the phrase.

I was a kid during the 1970s. Marjoe (and Marjoe Gortner, by extension) was a persistent interest. The best thing about seeing Marjoe first was how easy I could make connections between his acting career and that preacher skill set. It also got easy to see that preacher skill in other people.

You won’t see any of the organizations or leaders associated with liberal democracy identity groups. They won’t be doing any lip service around “Black” or “gay“ orgs etc. They are already operating in a post Black and minority world that they intend to build.

You will also see a smaller push to advocate for revolutionary or justice AI. They don’t have to court those organizations. most will willingly embrace the idea of it because funding environment for non profits is so bad.

Following the Pope’s encyclical about AI, you’re going to see a lot more religious intervention in shaping public opinion about tech companies. There are only two social institutions resilient enough to counter AI politically — states and religion. They bought the first. Standby on the second.

As much as us radicals get painted as the unrealistic ones, far-right factions have been fought and defeated — using a variety of tactics — plenty throughout history. What has never worked are civil dialogues with fascists. Insisting on civility, especially now, takes a special level of delusion.

Mad people can enact violence, but madness has no fundamental relationship to that reality. Sanity, however, is related to violence as the system of dominance that inflicts violence on Mad people, and as signifying cohesion with the political organization of subjectivity.

I cannot endorse this enough. Unless you've heard/seen the victim's actual story from a recording, you're just reading what some random cop wants the story to be. Often there is zero correlation between the cop's version and the truth.

Butterbutt. An older comic.
A four-panel comic titled "yellow-rumped warbler poem". In panel 1, a yellow-rumped warbler stands on a branch in a late autumn scene, and says "Fall is here." In panel 2, the warbler watches a brown leaf fall to the ground, and says "Winter's near." In panel 3, the warbler faces the viewer as brown leaves fall, and says "Need some cheer?" In panel 4, the warbler is showing its luminous yellow rump, and cheerfully says "See my rear."

Three panel comic. Panel 1: underwater ocean camera view of a whale fall on the sea floor, with various bottom feeders and weird fishes crawling around the decomposing remains. Off panel, someone says, “hang on a second…” Panel 2: the speaker is a member of a marine biologist crew, remotely viewing the video footage from a computer monitor. The biologist is leaning against his colleague’s chair. He continues, “pan the camera back.” Panel 3: Back underwater, the POV shifts to the other end of the whale carcass. There’s a large spider crab with a standing just off to the side. It has a human face in a neutral expression, and is wearing glasses. The marine biologist says, “I think I went to high school with that guy.”
