Today in @natneuro.nature.com, researchers led by @felsenberg.bsky.social report that memories can persist as silent traces, recoverable with the right reminder. But misleading cues can distort recall and create false memories—showing how remembering can rewrite the past. www.fmi.ch/news-events/...

Forgotten memories can leave silent traces in the brain
A forgotten memory is not always a vanished one. FMI neuroscientists investigating the fruit fly brain found that some memories become inaccessible while leaving a silent trace behind. The right remin...

Drosophila folks! We just shared a new protocol for surgical preparation that enables long-term imaging in adult flies. It’s low-cost, simple, and highly repeatable. For demonstration, we show a 10-day voltage imaging and a 1-week population calcium imaging results. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Thrilled to present our latest BioRXiv on brain/body interactions during defensive freezing behaviour! (www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...). You might think that a frozen animal has, well, frozen muscle activity, right? Wrong! Underneath the still surface of a fly, something in the legs is beating… 🧵
