YAYYYYYYY and also lmao what are these losers even for, are they fuckin MAD that the thing everyone said would work but that they hated, is working?
All that train usage has led to exactly what businesses want: a surge in foot traffic. A live chart showing pedestrian movements around the city centre shows above-average numbers across almost every site monitored since the CRL opened on September 13.

[my highlight] That chart is available on the website for Heart of the City, an organisation created to advocate for inner-city businesses; it turned down the opportunity to comment for this story.

I've been super impressed with my 8yr olds teacher. She's had the whole class running a voting process for a kid to be teacher for a day. The did campaign speeches, made coalitions when the vote tied. Got the kids so engaged.

Looking at national (split retail), Labour (split wholesale) and Green (state ownership to force competition) supermarket policies, and just thinking "why not all?" Obviously, we should look at the benefits of each intervention, but I'm for really fucking over the cartel. Payback time.

Unless I'm missing something, they're basically not feasible family cars at NZ prices. I need a 7 seater, and there's basically nothing under $40k.

Hot Air links every New Zealand MP to what they've actually said and how they've actually voted in Parliament — built from the official Hansard record, so you can look past the press release and see the voting history for yourself.

First sentence is why I lost my mind an hour ago and started this too long 🧵. What kind of swivel-eyed fuckwit adds up all the gross debt of all the different NZ sectors? The vast majority of this debt is what we all owe to each other Liam! Cancel it all out and you get $200bn. Why? [18/n]
Starting tomorrow, the Business Herald will launch its annual Nation of Debt series, tallying a grand total of New Zealand gross debt.
That’s all the mortgage debt, farming debt, business debt, consumer debt, student, central and local government debt.
It’s a big, scary number, closing in on a trillion dollars.
But in the end, don’t think it is the specific debt number that should drive debate as much as what we are doing with the money we borrow.
That’s where we should be putting the acid on politicians.
Of course, our debt has to be serviceable. We have to be sure we can keep paying it back at a pace the international credit rating agencies are happy with.

Anyone in the media going to remind the Nats that it was them that raised student loan repayments to 12% from 10% in 2013? Or are they just going to let that slide, like how Nats scrapped free flu vaccinations from under 12s, but it's back for under 5s just in time for election campaigning? #nzpol

Can we piss off with this “slashing debt” bullshit? We’re not a broke country. Our debt levels are far from unserviceable. We are, however, a country with serious deficit in infrastructure maintenance. Why can’t we address that? It’s far cheaper than continuously kicking the can down the road.
