I wrote in the introduction to my PhD thesis that viral movement proteins *open* plasmodesmata... but... what if viral movement proteins induced formation of new plasmodesmata... that might also increase trafficking between cells... 🤔 ?

I keep repeating this fun fact to people while they stare at me with feigned interest: “helicopter” is a compound word, but probably not in the way you think! it’s made up of “helico” as in, “spiral,” from the Greek “helix” and “pter” as in “wing,” like in pterodactyl!!
