I painted a few of these li'l fellas for an Early Modern tabletop nerdgame, in which they are indeed kind of a cult:

Seven beekeepers, male and female, tall and short, in pre-modern outfits (long cloth and leather tunics with hoods capped with wickerwork masks) stand in a sunny field full of flowers and blossoming trees. Five of them are holding or standing by bell-shaped basketwork hives. A couple of them hold canisters billowing herb-laden smokes. These are tabletop miniatures from Midlam.

There's a lot to love about @robertjbennett.bsky.social's Shadow of the Leviathan series (go read them if you have not! Read them again if you already have!) but one that tickles me particularly is that the Leviathan is intended both in the Hobbesian and the Kaiju sense at the same time.

The thing that really elevates @valdevia.art's Megalomorpha series isn't the giant bugs (though they are masterfully done). It isn't even the inverse eel problem that many of them appear to be larval stages and we don't know what the imago is like (though that too is an excellent driver of anxiety).
