I’ve spoken to a few course creators now, and we’re all seeing the same trend. Revenue down 50%+. Fewer people engaging with our content. People switching to LLMs, which slurp up all of our work and regurgitate it, without consent or compensation. It feels pretty bleak. 😅

And for #2, it’s absolutely true that AI can be fantastic learning tool, but it can only answer the questions that you know to ask. There’s a vast ocean of knowledge out there, and until you become an expert, it's hard to tell which parts are important (or true, for that matter 😅).

I think I am settling on a new mental model/name for running coding bots to produce code: groundhog thunderstorm. A) no memory or learning whatsoever. If it’s not in the context it’s gone. B) away with anthropomorphism, weather metaphors it is. It’s a storm or several you try to give directions.

The frontier labs would have us believe AI is dangerous because it's becoming so intelligent, and not because they're letting critical systems be controlled by autocomplete. A toaster would be dangerous if you gave it access to the nuclear launch system.

I deleted LinkedIn on my phone and here is what I learned: I am now less on LinkedIn. I read more blog posts. I still write every point on a separate line to stretch out the thin content so you have to scroll longer and "engage" with content more. My detox is a work-in-progress.

fyi to anyone who needs it- the physiological (naturally produced) dose is 300-500 mCg or 0.3-0.5mg most supplements have 10x that for NO reason other than marketing 300/500 MICROgram (0.3-0.5mg) pills *are* available. but you have to look for them
