Back when I worked on the lowa I actually asked a group of USS Iowa veterans about the three different lowa designs (Pacific, Warship Girls R, and Kantai Collection).

Pacific's version was universally panned. The veterans complained that there was nothing about her that made them think "that's USS lowa", and the veterans felt the only way their ship would have such a dour demeanor is if she grew bitter after the turret accident. The moment I showed them her image, the most weebish of the veterans summed up everyone's thoughts: "That's not my ship."
