I am furious at the way CGES staff have been treated, and at reports that current Geography students might have to take their remaining years of study at the campus in Exeter, nearly 100 miles away. And what timing - scrapping a Geography programme during the fifth heatwave of 2026! 7/9

I've just heard that the BA/BSc Geography programme is to close at the University of Exeter’s Centre for Geography and Environmental Science (CGES) in Cornwall. This programme was made up of excellent modules with original and content, taught brilliantly—often with real innovation—by extremely 1/9

Yesterday on the Avignon field course we were hosted by the Mairie d’Avignon & @inrae-france.bsky.social at Lycee Agricol Petraque & City Hall. We learnt about how the Mairie leading an innovative food aid scheme Paniers Solidaires providing local, organic produce to those on low incomes.

The 2024 Global Carbon Budget projects fossil carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of 37.4 billion tonnes, up 0.8% from 2023. Despite the urgent need to cut emissions to slow climate change, there is still “no sign” that the world has reached a peak in fossil CO2 emissions.
