The new week starts very hot, but a novelty for this summer we see cool northern Atlantic air flood in midweek. In normal circumstances temps would go comfortably below average. But the warm seas surrounding UK and residual heat store in land the EPS still has highs of 22C in London on Thur/Fri.

Another daily maximum temperature record for July 6th at LHR, 33.3C earlier, slightly hotter than 33.1C on this day 50 years ago. The 1991-2020 average high for this date is 23.1C temps are 10C above average and we hardly notice… these 30-year averages are increasingly losing relevancy.

Tough night? A historic warm night in capital with overnight low of 22.6C at #London Heathrow, a record breaking warm night of any month. The former record was 22.3C in July 2016. Until this heatwave the June highest minimum was 20.8C (1976) this has been broken on 3 nights maybe 1 more to add.
