Two famed mountain towns, both with Swiss influence and similar populations. Zermatt is car free, accessible by train, zero emissions vehicles, dense, sustainable. Banff is low density sprawl cramped onto 2 streets, crowded, congested, personal vehicles We can do better.

Rode past the eco counter on fifth street cycletrack this morning. 1798 bikes counted in under 9hrs. If every one of those people riding bikes was instead in an SUV, the line of cars would be almost 9 km long. People riding bikes don't cause traffic, cars cause traffic. Someone tell Dreeshen, k?

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars. Even if those cars are electric. And then there’s all the parking. OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc. Choices. Simple.
Graphic showing a 9 m wide track for metros can move as many people as a 175 m road for cars.
