Being mad at the Mamdani announcement is just straightforwardly anti-Semitic. Like there’s not really any excuse left to hide behind there.

remember: it saved no net money, social services US citizens are getting cut, and left the US in a weaker place geopolitically. none of the debates about fiscal responsibility, obligation to US citizens first, or 'hard choices' actually apply. they're all bullshit. killed people for nothing at all.

I really think Jon Ossoff, James Talarico, and a few others are in the process of creating a new kind of language, a new politics, for the era of Late Stage Trumpism. As I argue in the piece, the banal cruelties of sunsetting Trumpism are all around us, and some Dems are pointing to a way out.

We do not apply this reasoning - that you are responsible when your enemy in a war decides to kill civilians (which is not just some, but most of the deaths totaled here) - to any other war. People have agency and are responsible for their choices, including groups and countries other than the USA.

no, it is the other way around. if you are looking at D+14 (or D+12 or +10 or even +8) generic ballot then there is basically no point in trying to tamper with anything. you are going to lose, the only ? is how bad it is going to be. it's when the election is *tight* that tampering makes sense.

I think this is mostly true, with the caveat that in Trump II, some relationships with trade partners have been ruptured past the ability for a non-Trump president to repair quickly or in the same form they’d existed before. Not such that we’re doomed, but it’ll be necessarily different.

You fundamentally just cannot fight and win a war like this. There isn’t a military on earth that could effectively operate when your leadership is waffling back and forth on decisions on a daily basis for months on end. It’s not sustainable. None of this is sustainable.
