I'll be honest. I'm not doing great right now. I'm scared about the violence that's coming. I'm despondent and painfully frustrated about the preferential treatment being given to such a bad person over children and other victims because they aren't considered important. Political violence is abhorrent. I have not celebrated Kirk's death. But Newsom calling for his followers to "continue Charlie Kirk's work," someone who praised stoning gay people as "god's perfect law," who called for men to "take care of" trans people like they did in the 50s and 60s, is not it.

It is a terrible day. I agree. I remind everyone that in 1986 laws criminalizing LGBTQ+ people were approved by the US Supreme Court under Bowers vs Hardwick and that holding held firm until 2003 when we won Lawrence vs Texas. I was in the over flow room when the case was argued. We will prevail.
