It’s not hugely unpopular though. The polling and surveys have all been very split whether you are pro or against.

Moda survey results
City leaders are considering renovating the Moda Center. More than 18,000 people responded to a survey on renovating the Moda Center conducted in June 2026. This survey is not statistically valid, but...

This is horrifying. We cannot let this happen.

This picture is so overly dramatic 😂. Most of the money is one time BLT from the sale of the Blazers. The impact on future budget cycles would be very very minimal.

I like that part! An organized Blazers fandom would’ve made a difference here. I think a lot of Blazers fans were quite literally introduced to local politics for the first time. I’m more bullish on the term sheet’s strengths than you, but regardless I hope future fanbases can learn from us.

Doesn’t matter. The mayor can make whatever promises he wants, but it ALWAYS had to get approved by city council. This is how our charter was designed to work. I genuinely admire your activism, but this process has played out fine.

The vote on Wednesday is only for the City of Portland’s portion, which is not $1.1B. Why the need to stretch the facts? The city held listening sections in every district, polling, and written/public testimony. Just because you didn’t get the result you wanted doesn’t mean you didn’t have a voice.

@portlanddsa.bsky.social Why exclude how San Antonio is in the midst of an $800M public money renovation or the $722M for Barclays Center? What happens to this graph if we take inflation into account? What happens if we include other sports stadiums like NFL?

Really disappointed with the Portland DSA’s stance on this entire situation. The term sheet is not even close to the “worst deal ever” and these hyperbolic statements only make them look stupid. For example, where is Paycom Center and the $850M in public money? Seems intentional.

Some of these amendments sound good on paper, but would’ve made the negotiating team’s job nearly impossible.

For the record, @councilordunphy.bsky.social has done an A+ job on getting this Moda deal to the finish line, even if it means voting against amendments from the progressives on council. Feels like some councilors still don’t understand what’s at stake here.

True, but also this specific building was a permitting nightmare. Parking minimums, historic preservationists, seismic issues, etc. made this a nearly impossible parcel to develop.

Every single NBA team is under “legal threat” for breaking their lease. If the Blazers don’t want to get sued, don’t break the lease!

Thanks for the response! Excited to follow the progress of the TUF. Losing the Green Line downtown was a huge bummer 🫠 (along with other cuts).

IMO it’s worth looking at whether an autonomous vehicle tax could be economically beneficial to public transit in the city. With PBOT’s financial situation, I feel like it’s worth exploring!

Dundon may be willing to take the deal to the edge. Portland should not try to beat him at brinkmanship. Here's what the city should do. 🧵

1.Structural upgrades to extend Moda’s useful life. 2.Neighborhood development partnerships (preferably with AVT/Tri-Met). 3.Affordability guarantees. This assumes a long-term Blazers lease is part of the deal. There’s a way to do this that benefits the overall community!

I am BEGGING the state of Oregon to realize that funding TriMet helps downtown recovery. It’s not just transit bringing folks to downtown, it’s also the fact that union TriMet employees make decent wages and those dollars get directly put back into small businesses in our city.

We are so lucky to get the opportunity to replace a dead mall with a vibrant urban neighborhood that has parks, storefronts, and transit access! #don’tsavelloyd

The "Save Lloyd Center" thing is the most hopeless of hopeless possible causes. There is no possible world in which anyone steps in to save an enormous, decaying, mostly vacant mall. I'm not even mad at them because they won't succeed, it's mostly just sad

The ‘Save Lloyd’ campaign is, sadly, doomed to fail. The current version of the mall is simply economically unsustainable. Whether or not the new master plan will work is up for debate, but removing the 8,000+ wasted parking spaces on a transit hub will be a MASSIVE win.

Went car-free 2 years ago and I save AT LEAST $500/month on that decision. The physical/mental health improvements of biking are great too. Any Dem who talks about affordability, but doesn’t talk about urban freedom is a phony!

I’d love to see some car-free pilots à la what Seattle is doing with Pike Place or what Budapest does every weekend on the Lower Embankment! Car-free weekends at Pioneer Square/James Beard Market, for example, would rock. Portland has fallen behind on urbanism and PCEF can get us back on track.
