A fascinating little ring from the Punic necropolis on Ibiza. It depicts a bearded man in profile, but his hair and beard are composed of two birds (!), and his collar is a dolphin. 😮 The Punic inscription reads 'Belonging to Abdim'. 🏺 1/ 3rd-2nd c. BCE. #MuseoArqueológicoNacional 📸 me
A gold ring featuring a flat, circular shank that widens at the top to form an oval bezel with an engraving that may have served as a seal. The engraving depicts the profile of a bearded male head. The hair and beard are rendered as the images of two birds, and the neck terminates in a dolphin (looking like the collar of a garment). Beneath the figure, an inscription in Punic letters, displaying cursive traits, records the owner's name. The inscription can be transcribed as "Belonging to Abdim" (or Abdem).

The Emma Frost x Miss Piggy comic has hit the internet and it's so, so, so much more magnificent than I ever could have hoped for
Emma Frost: "Emma Frost, darling. I'm a telepath. May I read your mind to ascertain if you're telling the truth?"

Miss Piggy: "But of course, darling I am an open book, a tell-all memoir."Emma Frost telepathically witnessing the entirety of Miss Piggy's life.Wolverine: "Frost? She legit?"
Emma Frost: "She's..She's... She's everything. And I would die for her."

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).
A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

The data from New York shows that if you raise taxes or bring in a wealth tax the rich don’t leave. They stay and try and commit tax evasion, and if you make that too difficult they stay and pay and more people want to live and work there.

This “skidding goat” vase was likely made in Iran c.3500 BCE. Similar jars were made at settlements in mountain valleys that connected Mesopotamia in the west to Iran.
An ancient vase decorated with lines and a 'skidding goat'.

He wore a starched white shirt, black tie and tails. A cummerbund. No trousers, just leotard and black tights. And gold sequin high heels. Shoes he'd last worn, on stage, before I was born. We walked to the theatre. We danced home.

the dancers are really cute, they just need background school can keep time. A few years later a lead role singing and dancing in a 4000 seater. At board meetings you don't picture him showing a kid a VHS of Rocky Horror at the right time (when they're a little too young).

He didn't speak lick of Latin so maybe they suspected. Maybe if they'd seen a CV, originally a sheet metal worker then a masters degree but no O-levels they would have been curious. The voice, maybe choir? Not a mate saying you gotta come there's this lot putting on a musical, they're short on men!

Though I never met him Tim Curry is in many ways responsible for one of my favourite memories of my late father. My first job, living on my own in a VERY conservative provincial town on the other side of the country. The Rocky Horror Show was coming to town. Live! in a grand Victorian theatre!

I worked with Tim Curry when I was seven, we were in the Opening Number of the Oscars together. I had no business being there, to be honest. I couldn’t sing OR dance. But he was patient with me, and was as funny, fun, and kind as you’d hope him to be. I always hoped I’d be able to see him again.

We were singing “Make ‘Em Laugh,” and during one take, when he got to the line “My dad said, ‘Be an actor, my son’” he added, sotto voce, “Boy, was HE wrong.” I burst out laughing, and so did everyone else. That, and the times that we actually DID make Tim laugh, are my favorite memories of him.

I wouldn't call myself a cartoonist, but I had the vision and just needed it to be on paper to the best of my ability.
A hand drawn eight panel cartoon. First two panels are a colander sitting frowning on a shelf. Then the colander is frowning straining pasta, then three more panels of frowning sitting on a shelf. Then a big panel where it's projecting a bunch of crescent eclipse shapes and smiling with speech bubbles around saying "Wow! Look! Amazing! Beautiful!" And then one final panel where it's sitting on a shelf smiling.
