Although it's sadly quite incomplete, there's now a dataset for the Trappes radar available for the tornado event of 20 October last year (IF2 tornado with 1 death and 9 injuries). It among others show a very clear tornadic debris signature. Velocity quality is quite bad.

2025 confirms that August is the #waterspout month par excellence, not only for Germany. #tornado
Map shows all tornados during August 2025. Most of them occured over sea.This graphic shows the monthly distribution of waterspouts in Germany between 2000 and 2024. A clear peak can be seen for August with more than twice the number of July or September.

As we’re gearing up for tornado season, taking weather balloons offline in the Heartland of the US, also known as Tornado Alley, will directly affect the NWS’s ability to predict severe weather, including tornado-producing thunderstorms. This could lead to more severe weather-related deaths.

New ESSL study: Lightning kills about 64 people per year across Europe, 78% of them being men. In eastern Europe most victims were at work, whilst in West Europe people engaging in leisure activities are hit more often. Read more in our article here: journals.ametsoc.org/view/journal...

With the Avola-Noto tornado upgraded to IF2, the January 17th Sicily outbreak is the most impressive tornadic event in Italy during January to date, with longest path, most tornadoes and most (I)F2+ tornadoes, as well as the most single January tornadoes known. Luckily nobody was hurt

Nog maar weer een update van storm #Éowyn of beter gezegd #orkaan, want er komt met name a.d. Ierse kust een hele dikke windkracht 12 te staan met windstoten tot rond 200 km/u. Ze zijn er wel wat gewend maar dit wordt toch ook voor hen een hele vette storm. In animatie de windstoten in km/u.

I will miss my friend Charles A. Doswell III. Chuck was an outstanding scientist and inspiring teacher. At the core of his work was the motivation to improve warnings and save lives. He supported the European Severe Storms research and weather sagety community A LOT.
