Soon you could buy a gun online and have it shipped to your door without ever setting foot in a gun store—if a Trump administration proposal is finalized. Donald Trump Jr. is a shareholder and board member of a company that says it’s “uniquely positioned” to capitalize on the opportunity.

The US spends WAY, WAY more on its military that most Americans—and often, their lawmakers—realize. That's because military expenses are tucked into a host of other agency budgets. (These figures include some funds appropriated in earlier fiscal years spend in FY2025.) Full story below. (1/2)

68% of voters want the US to take ambitious action on climate change!
Respondents were asked to choose between two statements related to the U.S.’s role in global climate leadership, with a bipartisan majority (68%) selecting the following statement: “The United States should take ambitious action to address climate change, even if other countries do not. We should lead the world on this issue and set the example for other countries to follow suit.”

In contrast, just 25% of voters prefer the following statement: “If other countries do not take action to address climate change, the United States should not either. It is not fair for us to act while other countries contributing to the problem are sitting still.”

Despite political polarization reaching a historic high in recent years, Americans aren’t divided on ensuring clean air and water for every community. As the U.S. celebrates Earth Day, many Americans say the holiday holds personal importance and want the U.S. to prioritize clean air and water for all and take ambitious action on climate change.

US military spending isn't just DOD. As David Vine writes in @motherjones.com, it is spread across at least 15 other federal agencies, and the total likely exceeds the combined military budgets of every other nation on Earth. These figures are "likely to stun most Americans,” notes one expert.
