Actually I'm curious if you care to answer: I know the early sets were kind of the wild west for the art direction of the set. Was their a brief for this composition, or did they just give you the remit "paint a merfolk assassin?"

I always liked the simple but direct visual storytelling on Merfolk Assassin even since I was a kid with a merfolk deck. Underrated classic. I think if the stats were more pushed and it wasn't in a set that's arguably an early dip it would be iconic for that.
