ok time to stake a claim: I don't generally think there's any evidence LLMs could write a rewarding novel of any sort EXCEPT they could definitely do a better job of _Ready Player One_

I want to beg teachers and professors to bring back reading plays and stories aloud in class. It’s real, real-time, and different people *hear* different things in the text and are eager to discuss their takes. Empathy is imbedded in this work.

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.
A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

i went no contact with my mother for a couple of years and it was one of the (hardest! but) healthiest things for our relationship. Sometimes cutting a parent off is the best invitation you can give them to do the work!

This has been a slowly metastasizing moral panic for years: Liberals, drunk on therapy-speak, are cutting off their parents over minor slights and miscommunications. There is little evidence of the underlying phenomenon and even less of the cause. Look at this egregiously thin nut graf.
Although exact figures are scarce, the number of people cutting off close kin — particularly children cutting off parents — appears to be rising. Some speculate that therapists offering a speciously easy solution to a seemingly untenable problem are to blame

prob true of tech writ large tbh; being a designer has really been a dream career for the specific kinds of work and thinking i'm good at but it was a vastly different industry + world when i started in 2013 and i would never in a million years tell someone to swing for it

Yet another example of this being a pro-death administration. They are simultaneously making it harder to stop cars from wreaking havoc on our streets while also gutting programs that would enable people to get around safely outside of cars.

This is, and I am not even joking, going to fuck up so many hyperlexic kids. I got accused of plagiarism because I used the word “porous” in a sixth grade paper and that shit sticks with you, if not on the permanent record, then in the childhood.

This is something I struggle with. I appreciate that men want models of how to be. But when we try to populate “positive masculinity” with traits — strong, smart, kind — they are all equally available to women. Masculinity and femininity are empty concepts, absent gender hierarchy.

I will keep pounding the drum that we must utterly abolish and destroy the concept of "parental rights". There are parental *responsibilities*, and those responsibilities may involve parents being given the latitude to decide what is in the child's interests. But no "rights" over another human being

Was thinking how alt-milks for coffee are primarily vehicles to add water (for temp control) and fat (for mouthfeel & flavor). Then thought, you know, butter would be a great alternative. You’d want to thin it w water, emulsify the mixture, make sure it doesn’t solidify. Anyway I’ve invented milk.
