If DOJ can extract $8.5m from Langone under bogus False Claims Act assertions relating to gender affirming care then I expect the next Dem admin to extract nothing less than $850 billion from GOP slush fund vendors like Palantir and SpaceX.

Also once people see how good at speaking el-Sayed is, it's just not going to be the same story. It will become one of those things where everybody attacking Zohran for being normal comes off as a psychopath. IRL he comes across as a handsome doctor guy and Rogers emanates DUI.

No other breed surpasses the Bernese Mountain Dog in elegance, gravitas, and dignity of bearing.
The head and shoulders of a black, white, and rust dog. He is fast asleep, his eyes rolled back into his head, his tongue sticking out between his teeth.

Next time you hear about a sportsbook’s commitment to responsible gaming I encourage you to remember FanDuel sending a user who was down $1.5 MILLION a fun little thank-you clip of Bryce Harper wishing the guy an “extra special Thanksgiving.”

FanDuel sent a personal message from Phillies star Bryce Harper to a customer with a gambling addiction
Terry Thompson lost $1.5 million on bets he placed with FanDuel. The company gave him VIP treatment — including a personalized video message from the Phillies' All-Star first baseman.

Scientific American is 180 years old. The most eminent science magazine for the general public. And today, sold off as scrap to stop the staff from unionizing. Many top editors I've worked with for a decade on several articles have been fired. What a disgrace @sciam.bsky.social

My only comment on the Great Corn Slurry debacle is that enriched and nixtamalized corn is the reason pellagra rates fell from more than 3 million and more than 100,000 deaths between 1906 and 1940, to nearly eliminated by the 50s. Pellagra was epidemic. We ended it by adding niacin.

First day on the job and you want respect? Go right up to the most recognizable and respected guy in the newsroom and have him yell at you until you cry. Then it's time to send him a weepy email telling him how disappointed you were that he did all that. Shouldn't have any trouble after that.

Mikie Sherrill’s state police destroyed the mutual aid tent for families of the detained that had been in operation at Delaney Hall for more than a year, providing clothes, food, even stuffies for the kids. They just trashed it. I’m pretty speechless at the kind of person you have to be to do this
A photo from the inside of the mutual aid tent to benefit the families of detainees at Delaney Hall. Boxes of donations, clothes and materials are strewn all over the floor, documents and boxes open and thrown everywhere. NJ state police are evil.

AI can tell you how a word is spelled. But the work these kids do to solve those words—developing study tactics, identifying linguistic patterns, honing their ability to perform under pressure—is something a computer can’t do for you. The Bee is a reminder of what the human brain is capable of.

@michaelhobbes.bsky.social @notalawyer.bsky.social After listening to the latest episode, I can tell you that a hockey mom tried to show me pictures of her prolapsed uterus. I avoided this by yelling, "We're not really friends!" in her face and running away. This was at an ice rink during a game.

Look if you've got a better way to run a country than "putting an illiterate octogenarian bigot on TV every few days to free associate and complain, and then everyone tries to figure out if it means we're about to start a war or not" I'd love to hear it. But the constitution says this is it.

Ahh yes, nothing says “let kids be kids” like “using fancy calligraphy to sign checks.” Why, I remember when I signed my first check at the age of 8, using a fountain pen made of whale femur and ink from a Humboldt squid
Posts from Josh Shapiro, PA GOV

Governor Josh Shapiro • @governo... • 18h
Letting our kids be kids also means getting back to the basics. That's why, earlier this year, I signed into law a bipartisan bill that requires cursive handwriting to be taught in Pennsylvania schools.

It may seem strange, but cursive
handwriting is a fundamental skill that all of our kids should learn.
They may not get why now, but that's how they'll sign their very first check — or maybe even someday, a bill that gets to the Governor's desk (trust me, you'll want good penmanship for that).
