Just a thread of people with no sense of solidarity or allyship, just ‘positive vibes’. It’s disgusting and infuriating and depressing to see how many people simply do not give a shit about others

“Sorry son, no, mommy can’t get you any painkillers, she’s tweeting about how this whole experience with your broken knee has given her a fresh perspective on gender clinics. What’s a ‘non-sequitur’? Sounds postmodern and gender-adjacent, what are they teaching you at that school?”

I don’t doubt, by the way, that most people *would* care about this if they were aware of it. If they were made aware of this huge medical scandal by the UK media. But of course the UK media aren’t going to raise awareness of a scandal in which they are deeply complicit.

The one potentially good thing about this utterl, blatantly, Proudly ignorant "super intelligence" bullshit coming from this US executive regime is that maybe it'll finally make some more people go "Wait, what DOES 'artificial intelligence' refer to, anyway?" Maybe.

I don't understand how even mild criticism has become so contentious. "Oh, so you support [right-wing party] then?" "No, I'm trying to prevent [nominally left-leaning party] from enshittifying further."

Abandoning those who will most need our care and solidarity in the face of this contemptible regime should be unthinkable to anyone calling themselves progressive. That sort of political expediency doesn't inspire confidence in a party or movement or institution; it erodes it.

It's also just not how buffers work? A buffer isn't a smaller version of the thing it's trying to stop you hit, it's something placed in the way to stop you hitting the bad thing! It's not like we place small cliffs in front of roadside cliffs as a 'buffer' to the real drop lol

I think about this comic almost daily.
A calvin hopped comic with four panels. The first panel has calvin's dad working on a computer.Second one just shows him thinking on a chair.Third one shows him working a computer.Again, the fourth comic panel has calvin.Looking at a box in the background with calvin's dad on a computer. In the foreground.

The dialogue is as follow.

It UsED TO BE THAT IF A CLIENT WANTED SOMETHING DONE IN A WEEK,IT WAS CONSIDERED A RUSH JOB, AND HED BE LUCKY TO SET IT.
NON, WITH MODEMS, FAXES, AND CAR PHONES, EVERYBODY WANTS EVERYTHING INSTANTLY: IMPROVED TECHNOLOGY JUST INCREASES EXPECTATIONS.

In retrospect, we’ll see the key trend of the era was an elite revolt by the very rich, politicians and media employees against the idea there should be *any limits at all* on their behaviour, up to and including strangers publicly criticising them. All presented as The Wisdom Of The Average Punter.
one of those things I feel a little ashamed about for taking so long to clock is that rich people are surrounded by yesmen and consequently delude themselves into thinking their predictable bigotries reflect some suppressed yearning of the Common
Man.
