It's interesting how enduring these sorts of contagion narratives are in anti-LGBTQ commentary. web.archive.org/web/20211101...

Counterpoint: If you use these tools enough *and know enough about the subject matter* you’ll find that they are definitely parroting their training sets and have no actual thought or ideas of what they’re causing to occur

It turns out that scolding voters, especially voters within minority communities who most need our solidarity and care right now, is far easier for them than demanding better of the politicians they insist those voters vote for.

It was pretty good!
A screen in the distance, with text saying "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring." An orchestra is positioned below the screen, preparing to play.

I love the idea that *now* normative concerns are bringing to bear on "methods decisions." *Now*, and not in the past that Rubin apparently longs for, where those making "methods decisions" often did so without considering them.

Just a thread of people with no sense of solidarity or allyship, just ‘positive vibes’. It’s disgusting and infuriating and depressing to see how many people simply do not give a shit about others

I agree that it's different to the other pieces in the thread, which are examples of those tropes being expressed, rather than being described and then critiqued.

Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Oh, I see what you mean. I think it might have been included because it references specific tropes, even though it does so with a view to examining them critically. In that regard it's similar to this piece, which also acknowledges and responds to a particular trope (bsky.app/profile/ostr...).

I'm not sure; they have blocked me so I can't see their replies. The archived thread is by @implausiblegrrl.fyi; it's a compilation of anti-LGBTQ rhetoric from decades past, with a focus on the specific cliches that have been reanimated in more recent "GC" anti-trans rhetoric.

Yes, go back to being homophobic/transphobic in silence. It's preferable to doing it out loud and obnoxious as you are wont to do.

Yeah, you said that you "won't reply again" many months ago, too. And yet here you are, not just replying to my posts, but quoting them. Yes, of course they can. The entire story was about a man who did and didn't receive proper care.

seriously, but also relates it to other subjects (grounding, contingency, and so on).

Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
I think we do take it seriously, theists and atheists alike. And part of the reason is that it's intertwined with so many *other* questions, as you've pointed out. It reminds me of this discussion (bsky.app/profile/ostr...), which clearly takes the basic question (about God's existence) ...

It depends on the context. We can be pluralists regarding classification after all.
121
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
More generally, I don't buy the idea of a sharp distinction anyway. Insofar as the insistence that such terms be used rigidly and always in a non-interchangeable manner is premised on that exact distinction, I'd be inclined to reject it.
111
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
The terms in use are often used interchangeably (e.g., "man" and "male" are often used interchangeably, including in legally relevant contexts). That's why, for example, documentation doesn't always indicate the category of one's birth registration.

They have an endless litany of excuses: "We Can Always Tell, but also, you have to tell us because we can't always tell, but also, when you tell us we won't believe you and will instead accuse you of hallucinating, but also, it's your fault if we were wrong, but also..."

Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
It's bizarre how they think everything would have been completely a-okay **if only** he had used the magic words that "GCs" insist he has to use—if only he had acknowledged the sacred spark called "female," then everything would be fine and dandy.

Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
That's also why having this man say "I'm pregnant" just results in a page 404 in your brain. You're confronted by a biological reality you simply cannot (and, more crucially, will not) understand. It's cultivated ignorance.

How was it "harder to see, document, and have words for the fact" that he had a uterus and that he was pregnant? He told them he was pregnant!!
131
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Don't need to make anything up: you're a "GC;" you're ideology is very simple. That's its appeal, I guess—not having to think too hard.
100
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Yes, what about his uterus?
010
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
You're like, "By what about what's IN HIS SOUL; his real FEMALE ESSENCE"? Unimportant. Nonexistent.
120
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
And heck that material reality is knowable by both "I'm pregnant" *and* examinations confirming that he is pregnant.
120
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Incorrect. It's their material reality.
110
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Which, for you, just is their mystical essence, the sacred design, the divine plan—material facts be damned.
110
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
I don't believe in gendered or sexed souls. I'm also not a vulgar essentialist. That's you.
010
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Yes. "I'm pregnant." If you can't deal with that and draw some inferences on the basis of that, plus patient history, plus presentation, you shouldn't be working in healthcare.
120
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Sorry, I don't share your religious beliefs; calling them "biological reality" doesn't actually make them such, but you can keep trying—sort of like a prayer.
010
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Saying "I'm pregnant" is.
120
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Of course you believe in sexed souls; that's the fundamental dogma of "GC" ideology.
310
Felix @ostrasyn.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
That isn't true though. You are promulgating a view that is fundamentally at odds with biological reality. Sorry, I don't believe in sexed souls. Keep your religion and biopolitical project to yourself, or better yet, get help.
