The #NHS10YearPlan sets out a clear ambition: to build a healthcare system fit for the future, shifting care from hospitals to communities, from analogue to digital, and to strengthen quality, safety, and equity for all. Delivering that vision will also depend on how people experience care. [1/2]

NEW: Longer NHS waiting lists do not appear to be a significant driver of the rise in health-related benefit claims. @maxwarner.bsky.social & @benzaranko.bsky.social’s new report funded by @jrf-uk.bsky.social finds that the main explanation for rising benefit claims almost certainly lies elsewhere:
Charts show relationship between changes in the NHS waiting list and changes in health-related benefit claims at the MSOA level from November 2019 to May 2024. Title states: "Areas with larger increases in NHS waits for elective hospital treatment between 2019 and 2024 did not on average have meaningfully larger increases in health-related benefit claims."

🧵 We need to put admin on the agenda 📢 Our new research, published today alongside @thekingsfund.bsky.social & @healthwatchengland.bsky.social shows how commonplace issues with #NHSAdmin are. www.kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-...
Greeny-blue text on a dark teal background with a darker teal band at the bottom. The King’s Fund small logo, a white K on a black background, sits at the top of the image. The text reads: “We need to recognise the value of admin and improve patient experience." In the darker coloured band at the bottom you can see National Voices' and Healthwatch England's logosOn a teal background sits black text. There are three numbered items. The first: 1. Put admin on the agenda. Admin shapes patient experience and public perceptions of the NHS. 2. Measure patients' experience of admin. Only one national survey asks people about their experiences of admin. We need more national and local patient feedback data. 3. Develop clear goals for admin with patients and staff. Keep national and local systems accountable for delivering great admin that meets the needs of local communities. The numbered items continue on this slide. 4. Design and deliver two-way communications. Patients, staff and communities need to help create new approaches to admin. 5. Reduce the admin burden placed on patients and carers. Great admin can help address health inequalities. 6. Invest in admin staff development. Recognise the role admin staff can play in patient experience and addressing health inequalities.
