Turquoise-browed Motmot from an excursion yesterday in the dry forest of Guanacaste. #CostaRica #birds #nature

A colorful bird with a long black beak, vibrant turquoise crown, and a mix of orange, green, and blue feathers is seen in close-up against a soft, blurred background.

The reporting going on to explain that it was ICE's plan all along. Intimidate the young women and threaten her with arrest and disappearing the baby, until they could lure her mom out of the house (which they were not allowed to enter). Disgusting.

If you didn't hear, the ICE agents told the woman that they were arresting her... and that they would take away the baby, unless she called her mom to come out of the house and hand the baby to her When the panicked mom came out... ICE then arrested the mom instead. Which is where this starts

The bird photos will continue until morale improves

Two Mourning Doves, beige soft-looking birds with long tails and pink feet, sit on top of a shepherd's hook bird feeder that is decorated with a metal bird. The doves are sitting so close to each other they are touching, which is super cute and why I took a feeder picture in some random neighbor's yard.

Spring 1922: A seed catalog cover featuring Henderson’s Easy-Blanching Celery, Peter Henderson & Co., New York Source: Henry G. Gilbert Nursery and Seed Trade Catalog Collection of the National Agricultural Library via @archive.org; archive.org/details/hend...

A green, white and grey catalog cover image showing a man in a hat, trousers and work shirt with rolled-up sleeves. He is kneeling in a field of celery, with a shovel planted in the ground behind him. He is showing a bunch of celery just pulled from the ground, beholding the viewer with a neutral expression and general posture suggesting quiet confidence and pride in the celery. Next to him is a gigantic, out-of-scale bunch of celery, which if real would be something like 15 feet tall.

They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made. -FS Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, published 4/10/1925.

Original 1925 jacket cover of The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby
Here is a novel, glamorous, ironical, compassionate a marvellous fusion into unity of the curious incongruities of the life of the period which reveals a hero like no other one who could live at no other time and in no other place. But he will live as a character, we surmise, as long as the memory of any reader lasts.
"There was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life. ..
It was an
extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as I have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again?"
It is the story of this Jay Gatsby who came so mysteriously to West Egg, of his sumptuous er-tertainments, and of his love for Daisy Buchanan a story that ranges from pure lyrical beauty to sheer brutal realism, and is infused with a sense of the strangeness of human circumstance in a heedless universe.
It is a magical, living book, blended of irony, romance, and mysticism.
