A beautiful lapwing wades in reasonably shallow water at the Seaton Wetlands in East Devon (mid September 2026). I like how its reflection is cast in the water. This is the closest I have been to one.

A Eurasian Curlew standing on barnacle covered rocks at the edge of the sea. The bird is slightly right of centre of the shot, facing left so that its left side can be seen.
It has a very long, downward curved bill, which is brownish. Its plumage on top is a mottled grey-brown with dark streaking throughout, the plumage gets darker towards the back of the bird. Its underbelly is cream coloured and is also dark streaked. It has long greyish legs, which can only be seen to just below the knee in the shot.
The foreground is a dark rock which appears to be one large slab with large crack and crevasses throughout. It is curved rather than sharp, and mostly covered in a thin layer of yellowish barnacles with a few limpets here and there. The background is a calm and out of focus sea with a whitish appearance from the light

Last weekend we went to Ft. Stevens to see some birds and as we were driving out of the park, this magnificent creature posed in a tree along the side of the road. I was driving so my brother captured this for me through the passenger side window. #Birds #ThursJay #Raven #ECK

A Common Raven perched on a bare branch in the crook of a mossy tree. Its body is facing the camera with its head turned towards the right frame. Its beak is tilted upwards and just slightly ajar. The light is soft and shows the oily iridescent look of its neck and shoulder feathers. It also shows a reflection in its eye.

The lighting was not good here this morning, but these two looked at each other like this for minutes on end. I just had to share the ♥️. 🪶📸

Two red-shouldered hawks sit side-by-side on a bare horizontal branch. The smaller one (male?),on the left, faces the viewer and we can see the reddish chest with thin buffy horizontal banding. He looks directly at the face of the larger (female?) red-shouldered hawk sitting about 8 inches away. The hawk on the right has her back to the viewer and shows a dark and tail with white scalloped edging. She looks deeply into the eyes of her mate. The background is white-out as I had to overexpose the frame to see the birds.
