“Bongo” Ballpoint pen, pencil, watercolor, acrylic paint, and a little colored pencil.

Our man is in trouble this time, reader. Art supplies are scattered around a painting of an abstract cityscape. On the canvas we see a man in a telephone booth making a frantic call to his cat, Bongo. In the foreground, an answering machine is taking his voicemail, [Leave a message at the beep] --- “Bongo, Daddy got stuck in the painting. Go get help, Bongo.” Bongo stands at the base of the easel looking at the phone. Her tail in the air and ears perked up. Whether she’ll be able to help is open to interpretation.

Artist’s note: One of my favorites from the Spooky Pants book. I was playing around with the idea of a painting coming to life (like that guy in Ghostbusters 2) and kind of fumbled my way into this version. I really draw a lot of corded phones. I won’t stop.

Donner Hush X
The Donner Hush X is a headless electric guitar designed for traveling. Its body is kinda shaped like a Steinberger, but it's got a removable frame around the edge of the body that gives it the shape of a regular electric. It's got a humbucker and a single-coil, and they're controlled by a concentric volume/tone knob and a 3-way switch. Since this is a headless guitar, the tuners are integrated into the bridge.

@askylitocean.bsky.social is posting AI slop and calling it a van gogh (comments and quote reposts conveniently disabled). the actual van gogh is clearly nothing like the AI slop, which features realistic lighting, perspective, and forms.
bluesky screenshot of a skeet showing an AI-slop image of 2 people walking through a moonlit field, incorrectly attributed to vincent van gogh. the image is rendered in an impressionistic style wholly unlike van gogh's later work, and specifically nothing like the actual painting it was incorrectly named after. the actual van gogh painting in question.

What I can't get over is the Dems out there trying to transphobia their way out of these numbers. Just out there riding the crest of the wave, doing morally unsupportable pandering to bigotry at a time when it is also strategically foolish, just for love of the capitulation game.

remembering leaving a george carlin show in 1999, and overheard this geriatric wife talking to her husband and they walked out behind us: "i don't see why he had to be so vulgar." like, lady, were you not familiar with the past 3 decades of this man's comedy before you bought tickets to see him?

I would be shocked to discover ed sheeran has any beliefs, if I’m being honest I’d be shocked to discover that he has any internality whatsoever. There certainly isn any on display in his music, just a bland absence.

Newspaper headline: WOODLAND FAIRIES DEFEATED IN FLORAL ARRANGEMENT CONTEST. In the article’s photo we see a man in a sweater vest posing next to his winning arrangement with a 1st place medal around his neck. To his left we see his opponents: a defeated band of woodland fairies with their losing arrangement. They look distraught and confused and they should be, reader. How could this happen to the heavy tournament favorites? They’re woodland fairies. Flowers are their life and yet when it was all on the line, they came up short. The winner was just a floral enthusiast not even a professional florist. A shocking defeat and an inspiring win.

Dear Democrats, You will never be able to triangulate your way through racism/sexism/transphobia, because pushing a lighter, politer form of bigotry is always a lose-lose proposition. The bigots want the uncut stuff, while normal people aren't drawn to cowards who sell out. Stand your ground.

mono blue double Jace magic the gathering boardstate. opponent is holding more cards than they can cast with their five lands, because they were using food tokens to tap for mana and cast a lot of spells. so many spells! alas, their max hand size is still 7. they'll have some decisions to make! but they will not, as they have quit.

why would a satellite need to be sentient? "gosh, it's getting a little chilly up here. i'd better put on my $1.5b spaceX solar sweater."
screenshot of a twitter thread from elon musk:

"Extremely severe extinction events happen every 100M years or so and just switching to sustainable energy will not be enough to stop them. Space satellite to control temperature and massive geo-engineering will be needed or it will be game over."

quote tweet, also musk:

"And that is, of course, how it will be done. Sentient satellites, launched into Earth-Sun lagrange points by mass drivers on the moon, can solve global warming for ~1b years."

insurance company executives:
cartoon drawn by paul noth, depicting the classic trolley problem: a set of train tracks that splits, with one person tied to the tracks on one side and five people tied to the tracks on the other, as a trolley with some computerized sensors on the front, barrels toward the split. the difference is there is no lever for a human to pull. instead, two men stand next to each other, and one says to the other, "Luckily, the A.I. trolley will decide who to kill all on its own."

saw a similar one for houston, a reel of a downtown intersection in 1980 that looked nothing like downtown. street signs and billboards were all gibberish, cars were all tiny little euro shitboxes with euro shitbox license plates, and drivers couldn't decide which side of the street to drive on.
