All major parties leaders oppose ending the occupation. At most some of them want less public violence that looks bad abroad. There won't be an end to the occupation and slaughter without strong sanctions on Israel. The change won't come from inside, peace must be enforced.

The fall of Orban was seismic but it's really important to note that it could only be comparable to the hypothetical fall of Netanyahu or Putin if Hungary had been occupying Austria since 2010 or even 1970 and Magyar was pro occupation but a little more sad about it.

Netanyahu is angling for conflict with Turkey to use as cover to seize more of Syria and will eventually fabricate a reason to occupy NW Jordan, probably something to do with Druze communities. What keeps Jordanians relatively safe is the monarchy's friendly stance towards the US/UK and Tel Aviv.

The goal was (still is) to force Democrats to run anti-genocide candidates in 2026/28. Some people evaluated the possibilty of both parties being able to win on genocidal platforms as a greater threat than 1 more Trump term. You can disagree with their evaluation and tactics, but that's the logic.

Reading about the Blue Qur'an today, and...just...wow. Gold Kufic script (likely gold leaf, not shell!) on indigo-dyed parchment (technique uncertain! Brushed? Dipped? Pressed? No one knows!). Written in the early ʿAbbāsid period (ca. 800), place uncertain. 2024 research suggests Cairo or Baghdad.

More context: the Oslo C area formalized the permanent Israeli occupation of ~60% of the West Bank in 1995. It was supposed to be gradually transferred to Palestinian control, but that never happened, and now it's de facto a part of Israel where only Jews have legal protections or voting rights.

Al-Khalil (aka Hebron) is the largest city in the southern West Bank and the heart of the Palestinian economy in the area. Most WB cities are part of Oslo Area A, placed under the nominal control of the Palestinian Authority, but Israel kept the H2 area and still controls it like Oslo C.
