possibly a kite (do I need a real bio? Library paraprofessional, Doctor Who aficionado, connoisseur of labyrinths, yes I want to see pictures of your cats) probably not a werewolf, but I would say that, wouldn't I?

No cat so happy as the cat who has spurned all his cat beds - the comfy ones, the cute ones, the heated ones, the expensive ones, the high-up ones, the tucked-away ones - in favor of curling up in a literal box of trash.

Strangely relieved to see the moon after being clouded out of last night's moonrise. I'm sure that's normal

I gave up on photographing the moon through the dirty windshield after one attempt, but it came out cooler than I realized
Photo of the post-sunset sky taken through the windshield of a car on a freeway. A small crescent moon is visible through dark wispy clouds in the peach-blue sky, Venus a bit lower. The road ahead is dark, but reflective paint outlines the edges and a road sign indicates a merge ahead.

They are all middling shades of blue/gray/tan.

Oh oh oh are we doing “my cats on the day they came home” I got this Rory on the day he came home
The tiniest kitten loaf, white with beige patches on his back and silly black spots on his face and ears. He is SO TINY. Small kitten reaching over the pajama-clad leg of the photographer, about to climb in their lap for the VERY FIRST TIME

He has a tiny face with silly spots and big earsSame kitten lying asleep on his back in the photographer’s lap

I cannot emphasize this enough: HIS SILLY FACE

"doesn't understand the appeal of patina" feels like neat summation of American aesthetics
A BBC story headline reads: "Worth $5M? Visitors react to renovated Washington horse statues." There are two photos. One from 2013 that shows the horse statues in their older, patina state. And one from 2026 that shows them covered in 23.75-karat gold leaf.

Two panel comic. Panel 1: a guy opens the door to his apartment for a girl. He says with a smile, “well, this is my place!” She looks a little surprised. Panel 2: the guy is at the refrigerator across the room, grabbing a beer. He asks the girl, “drink?” His apartment is decorated with a poster of Heath Ledger’s Joker, a huge poster of Thanos wearing a crown, mink coat and sunglasses on a background of buzzwords such as “money - respect - sigma”, and a gold Kaws figurine. At the base of the panel is a pair of video game RPG-style move selections that read FIGHT and FLEE.

It does not typically rain here in August, so imagine my surprise to wake up to a downpour. With the sun out. Later learned I’d missed an overnight thunderstorm!
Looking down a short street at some condos, the low sun slightly haloed in a partly cloudy sky… and rain coming down so hard it’s bouncing off the street. Closer view, backlit rain visible as it falls, a huge river of runoff flowing down the gutter, torrential enough that it would be hard to get across without soaking your feet.

It's on summer nights like this, with the crickets singing ceaselessly and the full moon low, breeze stirring just enough to feel it, that it seems like you really could slip your boring human skin and run through the woods, doesn't it? No? Just me?
Just-past-full moon haloed in the deep blue night sky, above the silhouetted loquat tree and the patio beams. Is it calling you? Can you hear it?
