Science isn't about "why?", it's about making a judgement call in post-doc and then watching in existential horror as people just kind of follow your lead for a decade.

Have you ever felt like something was missing from your #fmri results? Have you been worried about potential reproducibility issues? Well, this new @natmethods.nature.com article with 40+ coauthors shows how the simple change to transparent thresholding helps both. Go Figure! rdcu.be/B4tikBETdQZa
A comparison of old and new thresholding approaches for fMRI data. The newer, transparent thresholding allows for interpreting context, more complete modeling, a reduction of biases and an increase in meaningful content. This all leads to more accurate interpretations and improved reproducibility evaluations.

Here is the full suspension letter from UGent that was sent to Nathan Cofnas, it shows ample reason for his suspension and potential termination. Including breach of contract, using the University of Ghent’s name and legitimacy to promote his racial supremacist views and causing reputational damage.

it's pretty important just strategically to understand that these folks will be Republicans soon. they align with the GOP on what is clearly the issue most salient to them. in a cycle or two they will be writing about how the Democrats left them behind.

The face I make when rodent model researchers tell me we can't say anything about a specific process in humans because all the evidence is in rodents as they write a paper titled "Teens drink more alcohol when stressed" (they beat a rat up and replaced their water with jack daniels).

Drugs are cool and all, but have you ever experienced the absolute high of spending two hours in the most anxious state of your life, wondering if you solved some minor problem from three years ago that definitely would kill your data/study, only to find out you did - in fact - solve that problem?

Another day, another example of the mainstreaming of scientific racism. A book just published by Cambridge University Press states definitively that Philippe Rushton’s work has “taken root in psychology”, though lamenting that “unfortunately” his work on race has not been taken seriously enough
2.1.3 Psychological Focus on LH Related Behaviors
However, Rushton's approach to study within-species LH variations has taken root in psychology. Unfortunately, other than criticism (e.g., Cartmill, 1998;
Smedley & Smedley, 2005), Rushton's LH work on race has not been followed up by the literature.
