I ask again, why are national Dems letting Elon "quietly" fund these races? We have two test cases. 2024 when Dems didn't make his money an issue. And 2025 Wisconsin, where they did. Guess which time they won by double digits?

These two photos show just how different the wars in #Ukraine and the #MiddleEast are. The 1st pic is the kill tally (~105) of Shahed drones by all the aircraft of the USS Abraham Lincoln. The second is the same kind of tally (185) of a single Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopter.

Shanghai based mathematician Chenglong Ma all but accuses OpenAI of stealing from a paper on Invariant Primes he had uploaded 8 days prior, stating that his "proof strategy and specific choices of notation are identical to a preliminary version of the present paper" arxiv.org/pdf/2610.10072
{D_k} = {D_i : i >= k}.

After the paper was written, the author learned that the same result was also proved independently and by a different method by Ningyi Li [7]. The result is also contained in a paper [8] released by OpenAI on October 6, 2026, in which the proof strategy and specific choices of notation are identical to a preliminary version of the present paper that was uploaded to ChatGPT on September 8, 2026.

We indicate the main steps, emphasizing how the auxiliary Cartier geometry is converted back into the stabilizer action on Lubin-Tate space.

The main lesson of the last 25 years of the GOP holding power is that they are totally incompetent at governing & everything breaks & many people die as a result (Katrina, wars, Covid, ICE, etc). Ask yourself if that ever appears as the central frame in media coverage of politics & the two parties.

this isn't some abstract argument either: all of our decades of experience with large, complex safety-critical systems shows that building a safety culture is the only way to manage and mitigate risk responsibly... and that's impossible to reconcile with a longtermist utilitarian perspective

the crazy part is that if you build strong safety cultures rooted in anticipating and avoiding real-time, real-world harms, you don't often find yourself blindsided by unanticipated X risks... this isn't a zero sum choice, and safety culture hasn't emerged randomly or by accident

this is by far the best "I quit my AI job over safety concerns" essay yet because it is the first one that is able to talk about safety concerns in practical terms and that understands "safety" as a topic with extensive literature in analogous fields www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...
Two changes are urgently needed. First: AI companies need to rely more on the safety expertise that already exists in other fields. And second, before we create systems significantly more capable than the ones we have today, we need new science to ensure that more capable models (and their successors) will make safe choices when we aren’t looking.

Given today’s risks, frontier labs need to run like nuclear-power plants or busy airports, with layers of redundancy and careful, time-consuming planning, so that the occasional and inevitable human error does not open a door to disaster. Right now, AI companies don’t know how—but other people do. In a nuclear-power plant, the technical systems and rules people follow are set up so that, if equipment breaks or someone pushes the wrong button, we still won’t risk a meltdown. OpenAI and other labs are growing and deploying frontier AI with far less redundancy and rigor than this, even though the harm from an irreversible loss of control would be much greater than the harm from any single meltdown. Even short of a full loss of control, we could see autonomous swarms of AI agents that act without human permission. Imagine “rogue” agents that work like teams of hackers (for example, holding hospital computer systems for ransom) but never need to sleep.
