What if, hear me out, we built enough pools, skating rinks, libraries, parks, etc for our population and designed and planned them, maintained them, and yes, required proof of residence? If you’ve moved to an exurb for the cheaper taxes, these are choices.

Democrats keep trying to guilt-trip Canadians into backing down. Fuck off. Deal with your own mess. This is your problem to solve, not ours. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
Gallego, the Arizona senator, said the two sides need to figure out how to mutually step down from the current trade tensions, adding that it appeared both Trump and Prime Minister Mark Carney were playing politics when trade talks fell apart last month.
"I'm not asking Mr. Carney to just bend at the knee and give in, but this is the role of diplomacy," Gallego said. "You figure out how to actually start bringing the heat down little by little to a point where you can get to the negotiation table."
Likewise, Maine's governor, Mills, said there need to be "serious negotiations on both sides," and she hopes a third party can sit down with the two countries and make it clear a tariff fight damages both of them.
"The retaliatory tariffs, I can understand why that's happening," Mills said. "I can't say it's not damaging our economy, though."

With respect to those who say the major problem in the UK is growth / cost of living, I'm sorry but I think the way in which everyday life seems at the mercy of often completely unaccountable organisations is worse. And politicians talking in the abstract rather than lived experience.

I love Canada, but: Aside from the political contribution cap and SCC appointment process, our democracy is structurally weaker than the USA's. Many of the abuses of executive power they're justifiably mad about are entrenched in Canada's parliamentary system.

An illustration showing the impact of parking requirements on land use. From left to right, the image depicts a gradient of increasing parking mandates: 'No Parking Required' allows for dense, walkable development; '1 Space per 500 Square Feet' introduces some parking; '1 Space per 250 Square Feet' adds more parking lots; and '1 Space per 100 Square Feet' results in sprawling, car-centric infrastructure with large parking lots dominating the landscape.
