On the one hand, I have hours of work to do that relate to the Mayor's plans to chart the future of this great city. On the other hand, I really feel like I could go to bed at 8:15pm tonight, and be asleep by 8:17:45.

Mayor Lurie pulls endorsement from Manny Yekutiel in wake of new sexual assault allegations
Lurie had just thrown his weight behind Yekutiel three weeks ago, and he said in a Thursday statement that he thought Yekutiel was “the best candidate to represent District 8” at the time.

Windsor, ON. I'll say more after October but for now, speaking strictly on the 'strong Mayor' part, I don't know how this doesn't kill the veto/pre-veto (eg what most people see as 'strong Mayor') for good. Between it and 2-3 other cases, it will mean the authority - windsorstar.com/news/dilkens...

Winnipeg mayoral race. Klein is promising a water/sewer rate freeze. Sounds great. Pertinent: the Mayor and Council have *already* voted to freeze rates in 2027, pending confirmation of fed-prov funding for the sewer plant (which we already have from the Province). www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

A fascinating policy debate about the awkwardness of property tax aid in Halifax, NS. This is also the most obvious impact of holding back reassessments in Ontario; new builds get assessed at 2026 values as they come onto the roll, while older properties stay at pre-pandemic values.

Winnipeg mayoral race. Klein claiming the Mayor torqued housing numbers by using CMA stats. Klein's crack, municipally-seasoned team appears to be unaware that the CMHC breaks out housing data by municipality, not just the census metro. (Hint: CY means... CITY). Do these guys check *anything*-?

Winnipeg, MB mayoral race. It astounded me when they cut a popular, useful frontline service like this in 2015 (when Morantz as budget guy). Apparently, my boss felt the same way, and so we are in a place where it can be restored next year. Re-elect Scott Gillingham, etc.
