i rewatched The Matrix trilogy recently and could not help but laugh when i saw each movie had a different production logo. they were all released within four years, with the second and third movie released in the same year!
Production logo from The Matrix (1999), reads "Warner Bros. Pictures: a Time Warner Entertainment Company."Production logo from The Matrix: Reloaded (2003), reads "Warner Bros. Pictures: an AOL Time Warner Company."Production logo from The Matrix: Revolutions (2003), reads "Warner Bros. Pictures: A Time Warner Company."

How many players active since 1970 have at least 4 World Series rings? Reggie (5), a bunch of 90s Yankees, Betts… anyone else? (Cutoff date chosen mainly to exclude the 20s-50s Yankees dynasties.)

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Sad news. I enjoyed many of his comics in the 80s and 90s. I lost track of him in the 2000s and haven’t seen any of his newer books.

But they decided to write her out and bring him back to the team and then head off in increasingly goofy directions. So, oh well. They might have been able to do something similar with Madelyne Prior, but I think the opportunity had been offered and rejected by that point.

People always trot out Cyclops as a character who does very poorly as a solo character. Which, fair enough, since he’s basically spent his whole life with the X-Men. But I think there *was* a window to try him as a solo star, and that window was when he was with Lee Forrester.

As a listener, I mostly listen to audio dramas and discoverability is a problem there, for sure. But video wouldn’t help me at all because the whole point of podcasts to me is it’s something I can listen to while my eyes are doing something else (walking, running, driving).

When I saw the video I wondered if a Schmitt staffer used an AI agent to look for dirt about Smith in this area. Then the agent mixed things up (since AI agents don’t know anything) and spit this Hawks theory out. And then the staffer ran with it rather than checking anything.

It was really something to see. I can imagine so many things going through Smith's brain and all of them came down to "am I about to demonstrate that this U.S. Senator is an imbecile on television?" I'm sure he was relieved - maybe even delighted - when Klobuchar stepped in to do just that.

The GOP cut funding to the IRS because *audits work* and they fundamentally don't believe rich people should have to play by the rules.
Line chart titled "Revenue per audit," subtitled "In-person audits, 2010-2014." It plots average revenue and average cost per audit by taxpayer income percentile, poorer to richer, from the 0–5th percentile to the top 0.1%. Source: Boning et al. 2023, "A Welfare Analysis of Tax Audits Across the Income Distribution."

Across the bottom half of the income distribution, revenue and cost track closely, both around $3,000–$6,000 per audit. Above the median, revenue pulls ahead of cost: about $10,000 vs. $5,000 near the 90th percentile, and about $17,000 vs. $8,000 at the 95th–99th. At the top, revenue jumps to about $31,000 for the 99–99.9th percentile and about $90,000 for the top 0.1%.

I felt last season like Maye was thriving in a relatively low-pressure environment and he’d have to take a bit step forward this year to adjust. That hasn’t happened. Really makes me appreciate how remarkable my other team’s quarterback - Brock Purdy - is.

Part of me thinks the Sox should have just said, “Naw, we’re not flying to Florida to play in front of 300 people in a game that means nothing to us and then flying back up to New York for the playoffs. The Cubs can have it.” (I know why they’re not doing this, but still.)

I think such people see death scenes of pets as much more than something that makes them ‘sad’ or ‘uncomfortable’. I’m not a fan of such scenes either, but they clearly feel it more keenly than I do.

I’ve known people for decades who are like, “I will not watch something where a dog or cat dies, and if they spring it on me I will never watch anything by that creator ever again.” Seems more like companies are more aware that such people exist, because they can sound off about it on social media.
