The “welfare reform bill” is out and let’s be clear: this is not reform - it is devastating cuts. Disabled people will be made poorer, sicker, and more isolated as a result. That it is a Labour government causing this misery will be a mark of shame on the party for years to come.

Learning about myalgic encephalomyelitis really changed me. The full depth of suffering associated with this horrific illness is right out in the open for anyone to read about and/or to develop themselves, and our society seems to have decided to address the problem solely by stigmatising patients

Now best known as a music venue, the Thekla (a 1958 German cargo ship) was opened as an art and theatre space after arriving in Bristol in 1983. Then called the Old Profanity showboat it was owned by Vivian Stanshall of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and his wife, novelist Ki Longfellow.

I’ve realised I don’t like bluesky being completely public. I like my profiles private thank you very much. So my way around it is to nip in every so often and check out how you all are, then deactivate my account until the next time I check back in. Not ideal but it’ll have to do.

This thread should be read by every single MP. No, by everyone. The assessment process in the UK is utterly brutal, leaving people traumatised and often without the miserly financial help that should be theirs unless they have the capacity to jump through every painful and humiliating hoop.

Distraught at having been dumped by her boyfriend in 1885, 23 year old Bristol barmaid Sarah Ann Henley threw herself from the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Astonishingly, her petticoats slowed her descent and she survived, going on to live a happy life until her death aged 85.

I’ve used so many block lists on here. I don’t use them elsewhere as they rely on someone else’s opinion of who to block. That does mean some accounts get added that don’t necessarily deserve to be on there. But until there’s a way to make accounts private, I’m going to keep adding block lists.

It’s unreal to me that absolutely everything I’ve learned about how to cope with moderate then severe M.E. has been via other severely unwell people. Not one proper bit of help from the medical community apart from a very sympathetic GP whom I have to educate. #pwME #MECFS

I still can’t believe having to mask temporarily during a global pandemic broke so many people. It’s been 5 years & they’re still irrationally angry at the sight of a mask. They’ve abandoned all sense of self preservation and community care, and lives will continue to be lost because of it.
