Morning commute across the Euston Puddle - on the hottest day of the year!
A man jumps across surface flooding on Euston Road.

The ‘Euston Puddle’ makes another appearance on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year.

‘Euston Puddle’ returns for summer -
A visualy impaired man using a white cane navigates across a flooded pedestrian crossing outside Euston station.

Heavy rain causes surface flooding AKA the ‘Euston Puddle’ at pedestrian crossings on Euston Road. Transport for London (TfL) who manage the road and crossings installed new drainage to solve the problem, which instantly failed first time it rained. 02/06/2026. London. UK. Taxi driver splashes pedestrians on Euston Road. Photo: Simon Lamrock. Euston Station is one of London’s busiest and most famous interchanges from where thousands of passengers arrive in or leave the capital daily. But there’s a long-standing problem that’s becoming as notable as the station itself -- the "Euston Puddle". London’s transport bosses have been urged to fix the regularly occurring body of water that causes havoc opposite the station.

Maureen Rose, who runs Taylor's Buttons out of a tiny shop in Cleveland Street, says she is "amazed" by the public response to the fundraising appeal she set up in an effort to save her business from closure. Last month she appealed for donations in an effort to try to pay off £17,000 of rent arrears that dates back to the time of the Covid restrictions when the shop had to close for many months.
