ben got tired of retyping the same arguments benui.ca/blog/why-i-r...
The arguments around the use of "AI" are exhausting. I'm tired of re-typing my reasons, so this document is a summary of some of the many reasons why I refuse to use AI.

These reasons are not particularly original. They have been stated many times by others.
These are not all the reasons not to use AI.
These reasons are not in any particular order.
These arguments focus on my work as a programmer.
I interchange AI and LLMs, but prefer LLMs as "AI" is a marketing term used to oversell the capability of generative models.
Table of Contents:
Deskilling
Built on Stolen Labour
Negative Environmental Impacts
Introduces Reliance on Subscription Service
I Like Programming
Fundamentally Hostile to Human Learning
Worse Quality Code
It's a Black Box
Inaccuracy and Bad User Experience
Fundamentally Designed to Make Stuff up
The Statistical Average is the Least Interesting Result
Inability to Solve Novel Problems
Used to Obfuscate Responsibility
LLMs Ruin the Web
Non-deterministic
Not Using Your Brain is Insulting
Suspiciously Similar to NFTs, Crypto, Metaverse
Chatbot interaction is emotionally manipulative and can lead to psychosis
LLMs Make Everyone Poorer

You’re losing $20k a year because of climate change – and it’s predicted to get worse
As well as the cost of extreme weather and natural disasters, longer-term climatic changes are also a drag on economic productivity, the NSW Net Zero Commission says.

He is expected to urge Australians to save fuel for areas and industries that "most need it".
