You can't use one assessment for multiple purposes - it gets pulled out of shape. That's what happened to GCSEs when they were used for all kinds of purposes they weren't designed for. Things are a bit better at secondary now - but what about primary?

‘parents who choose a “good” secondary school for their child will not leave with appreciably better outcomes than a parent who selects an “inadequate” school. The one exception to this is an Outstanding judgment, which does predict future academic outcomes’

Hard agree with this approach to CPD. Sustainable motivation and improvement rarely comes from listening to external speakers but from work in teams to discuss, plan, co-construct and sense-make.

MATs do seem to currently favour "an MAT model", don't they. If they want to move towards cohesion, I think the best you can do is a "viable principles" model. I think @isaacmoore7.bsky.social and @musingsofadr.bsky.social do this. E.g. "Retrieval Practice" as principle but not precise activity.

Well, it is an underrepresentation and the stats on progression are certainly concerning. Hard to argue there isn't a significant disparity and a significant issue, I would suggest.
