The Green Party conference has concluded its debate on this motion, titled 'Zionism is Racism'. The result will be announced shortly. Well informed observers anticipate it is likely to pass.
Green Party Motion A105
Proposer: Lubna Speitan
Title: Zionism is Racism
Type: E Motion (Policy)
ZIONISM IS RACISM
SYNOPSIS:
This motion defines Zionism, recognises its continued harm to Palestinians, and seeks to clarify
that the Green Party is opposed to Zionism. It further affirms the right to self-determination and
liberation of the Palestinian people and supports the establishment of a single democratic
Palestinian State in all of historic Palestine.
MOTION TEXT:
Zionism is a political ideology which called for the creation – and, now it exists, the continuity –
of an ethnonationalist Jewish State in historic Palestine to the exclusion and/or domination of
the non-Jewish population. The real, material manifestation of Zionism has been the historic and
ongoing dehumanisation, displacement, dispossession, disenfranchisement and destruction of
Palestinians. This is based upon European settler-colonial systems of domination and
oppression, which has also created racial hierarchies between Jews of different ethnicities in
Palestine.
The practice of Zionist ideology, promoting ethnonationalism, privileges one ethnic group on the
basis of the subjugation of others. Zionism is Israel's foundational ideology.
Zionism has created and seeks to maintain – and where possible – expand, an apartheid
regime between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, designed to cement the
supremacy of one group, Jews, over another, Palestinians. As such, Zionism is racist.
This motion is aimed at the political ideology and practice of Zionism, as defined, and not at the
religious or ethnic background of those who may identify as Zionists. Not all Jews are Zionists
and not all Zionists are Jews.
Rejecting Zionism and supporting the liberation of the Palestinian people is not discriminatory
against Jewish people. Nor is it discriminatory to support the establishment of a single
democratic Palestinian State between the Jordan river and the Me…

I haven't been able to find the text of the motion to read beyond its title but passing a motion titled "Zionism is racism" seems like a pretty terrible idea to me

If journal submissions are going up, ppl are using AI wrong. By all means use it to stress-test your arguments. Publish fewer, better things. Sloppy substantially AI-generated research papers will soon lose most of their value anyway. Quantity-heavy CVs will be suspect. Citations metrics will change

It's national poetry day! Here is a poem of mine first published by Arlen House in Washing Windows II and then republished by Poetry Ireland / Éigse Éireann 's volume Vital Signs: Poems for Illness and Healing.
Remembrance

In my dream you were alive. I said I

loved you and you heard me. You knew it was

me, not just distance with a human shape.

You tell me I need to stay here, so I

do. I grab the thread of sewn pink petals

hanging tight between us, their wet edges

drip your soft thunder all over the floor,

liquid velvet slips between our fingers,

soaked; we campaign to walk against time. Come

see me, you said, before I forget. You

knew, before we knew, that the dementia

was slithering in, knocking out pieces

of you with its blunt mouth. I’d put you back

together if I could, click each petal

into its stem so that I could say I

love you and you could hear me.

Back on the grind
Rien à Faire

You couldn't write Waiting For Godot today
They'd just be on their phones
No music-hall banter
No business with hats
If you think the original's boring,
Well
Postpostpostmodernism marches on

Now I know what you're thinking
"Gogo and Didi wouldn't have phones
They barely have radishes"
Maybe that's right
Or maybe they'd have one to share
With a stingy data plan

But the audience
Out there in the expensive seats
Are not accustomed to waiting
And entertaining each other
So they won't relate

But wait

That's us
You and me, out for our absurdist date night
And we don't know what it is to wait
Not really
Not heroically
Like our grandparents did
But still
We are moved

The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples
