I just want to mention: Even if your AI somehow runs locally and you think it's okay, it's still using trained data from a pre-existing dataset which is still full of stolen work. The sheer amount of data gen AI needs is in the hundreds of thousands, you can only get that by scraping

The main way in which AI has negatively impacted games industry jobs is not through actual automation of those jobs or even untrue claims about automation. It's by making capital unavailable because it's tied up in AI investments while also destroying the consumer base for video game hardware.

Filled out a survey for UK authors and illustrators, about AI Licensing and Remuneration. My personal take on this was that there's no combination of money or terms, that would make me want to license my work to train Gen AI. At the end of the survey I wrote this mqedu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

Generative AI is based on plagiarism. It is trained by exploiting workers in the Global South. It is environmentally destructive. It replicates stereotypes, bigotry and other oppressive attitudes. It is highly inaccurate. It is psychologically damaging for those who use it, via encouraging dependency, the development of AI psychosis, or by leading to the erosion of existing skills. It is a way of overturning creative labour markets to cynically enrich tech bros. There is not ethical use of it. No amount of financial compensation makes it worth engaging with.

This game uses AI in various places. A a solo developer it was nearly impossible to put out this game in a meaningful time frame or act on feedback without leveraging AI as a tool. I'm happy to reduce AI usage if the game is financially stable enough through your support! Thank you in advanced if we ever get that opportunity.
