This is a fundamental logic of today’s politics. Democrats supported rollbacks of civil rights over and over—from border enforcement to welfare reform to counterterrorism to crushing the Palestine solidarity encampments—and Republicans predictably use this as the infrastructure for fascism.

Drawing of the Day: UN Reports: Earth will cross 1.5°C warming and a best case scenario is "Overshoot, peak, decline" "There are no good outcomes if we remain above 1.5°C... we must double down on climate action" Mamdani announced NY public schools will ban Al for elementary and middle school kids
Wednesday September 2,2026
The UN Reports. Earth will cross 1.5°C warming and a best case scenario is "Overshoot, peak, decline" or warming
could be even more catastrophic.

"There are no good outcomes if we remain above 1.5°C... Now is the time we must double down on climate action" - Inger Andersen of UN Environmental program said. The report calls for immediate cuts to greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels and methane, as well as adoption of new carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies at scale due to the overshoot. Most scenarios currently suggest 1.8° C or higher is the pathway we're currently on.

Mayor Mamdani announced NY public schools will ban Al tools for elementary and middle school kids, and have an Al literacy course for High School students. This is intended to ensure AI doesn’t interfere with classroom learning.
