Daily(ish) #SmallPress #books: The Alchemy of Paradise by Susannah M. Smith, @invisibooks.bsky.social & Kill The Poet, Save The World by Abdulkareem Baba-Aminu, Masobe Books. See alt-text. #DSPBposts 💙📚 #BookSky #booktok #bookstagram
Book covers for 1. The Alchemy of Paradise by Susannah M. Smith, Invisible Publishing: A curator confronts grief, loss, and mortality by arranging the fragments of her life—objects, memories, impressions—into a fragile order. Set in contemporary England, with Venice shimmering at its core, The Alchemy of Paradise follows her attempt to preserve what might otherwise vanish, shaping a collection that makes survival possible. When order fails to yield meaning, she turns to the alchemical, where matter shifts into metaphor and loss becomes transformation. https://invisiblepublishing.com/product/the-alchemy-of-paradise/ and 2. Kill The Poet, Save The World by Abdulkareem Baba-Aminu, Masobe Books: Abdulkareem Baba-Aminu’s poems, electric with Africanfuturist vision, move deftly through circuitry, spirit, memory, and mutation, to confront the fractures of our age with both tenderness, and audacity. At its heart, this is a collection rooted in survival: of art, of identity, of memory. It is a reminder that the future is never neutral, and that raw, unruly, and uncolonized imagination is its most powerful architect. Kill The Poet, Save The World! is a call to reimagine what it means to feel, to dream, and to be human. https://masobebooks.com/ng/book/kill-the-poet-save-the-world/

We’ve just unveiled a new series at the press, with its first title publishing next month. Read more at our Substack: invisiblebooks.substack.com/p/announcing...
A book laying atop crumpled white paper. It's called "Baby Face/Face de bébé" by Sallie Fullerton. On the bottom corner, it says "DOCUMENTS / INVISIBLE BOOKS." The cover is blue and gold, with the only image being two overlapping gold rectangles in the middle.A blue-washed photo from the 1970s of a woman leaning against the door of an establishment called BABY FACE. The overlaid text reads "Announcing: DOCUMENTS. A new series and a new book coming next month. Invisible Publishing."A black and white blurred photo of people partying, with the following quote atop: “Baby Face / Face de bébé, Sallie Fullerton’s lush, polyvocal documentary-collage-poem, animates the lived queer imaginary of late 20th-century Montreal club life with a brilliant curatorial eye. Centering the pleasures and risks of self-determination, exposure, entrepreneurship, and survival, Fullerton builds a fascinating collective portrait of dynamic worldmaking, inviting us to witness the rich life evolving around a singular star whose audacity and magnetism made new ways of being possible.”—Elizabeth Willis, author of Liontaming in AmericaA black and white photo of a suited woman smiling, with the following quote atop: “I love the thing – of this Baby Face. The sparse faded type, the gallant photos leaning in door ways, in her leisure suit, kind of Mark Wahlberg working class swagger, plus the poetry made from these shavings scraped from interview and conversations, the brief pages of crazy romantic elven portraits – the dykes memorialized under lights flash outside for a few weeks. I think of what such bars were like in the seventies, already a faded glamour from an earlier time, Baby Face / Face de bébé is a helluva aesthetic toast to human lesbian magic and ancestor worship, daggers, womyn and queers.”—Eileen Myles
