LAPD killed someone in a mental health crisis today.

oday, at around 9:55 am, Hollenbeck Division patrol officers responded to a radio call of a violent male with mental illness where the suspect was armed with a metal pipe in the area of 600 block of Gillette Street.

Upon arrival, the officers located the suspect who was armed with a large tree trimmer with an approximate 12” serrated blade. He failed to comply with orders to drop the pole and continued advancing towards officers. As the officers redeployed, an officer involved shooting

The suspect was struck by gunfire. LAFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported the suspect to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
